Fantastic holiday at the Sacallis Inn. Just what we would expect from a Greek holiday. As all the reviews agree, a brilliant location straight on the beach.
Firstly the hotel, our room was on the 2nd floor (the top floor, no high rise buildings here) with a side view over the beach and the nearby island. The room was bright and airy, spotlessly clean and fairly modern, with a hairdryer that was more than adequate in the room. Towels and bedding were changed regularly.
Secondly the restaurant at the back, food was brilliant and amazing value, we ate at a few different rastaurants, but the food was never any better than the Sacalis and no other location had such an amazing setting. Breakfast was cereals, bread, jams, yogurt and honey, ham, cheese and tomatoes, also watermelon or cake most mornings...more than adequate. The building of a new dining room was completed the day we left, that will make it suitable even later in the season when evenings aren't as warm.
Finally all the staff were so friendly, greeting you everytime they saw you, taking time to chat, not sure how they deal with complaints (as mentioned in other reports) because we had no complaints!
2 useful things you may need to know are:-
You may be glad of beach shoes to get in and out of the sea as there is a 2 foot wide strip of pebbles at the edge of the sea.
The chemist is a good 40 minutes walk away so take emergency supplies with you.

And we'd recommend this hotel and resort to anyone that wants to go to a Greek island and feel as if you really have been to Greece

I agree with other reviews regarding the stunning location of the Sacallis....right on the beach and looking out to the pretty little island of Kastri - simply lovely.
Rooms are as expected for a 2* Greek hotel - basic, small but very clean with fresh towels provided regularly. We requested a sea view and were not disappointed.
We are not usually fussy people and believe that generally you get what you pay for in life. However, the holiday was not particularly cheap (we travelled with Olympic Holidays) and we had read some good reports of the Sacallis restaurant and the friendliness of the staff on Tripadvisor so our expectations of these particular aspects were pretty high.
We had dinner at the Sacallis on our first 2 nights and were extremely disappointed on both occasions. On the first evening we waited nearly 2 hours for our dinner to arrive. Having visited Greece on many occasions we appreciate that Greek service isn't always a speedy affair - however, the waitress had completely forgotten about our dinner which had been left in the oven to dry up. The quality was poor as a result. However, we thought maybe this had been a 'one off' so on the second evening decided to give it another try. This time I got my dinner fairly promptly - a good sign so we thought! My husband waited, and waited, and waited but no dinner arrived. After a number of polite reminders to the waiter we were told that his order had been forgotten and that he would have to wait 'a little longer' for the meal to be cooked! By this time I had finished my meal and so we decided to give it a miss. My husband went hungry.
We did give the restaurant another try one lunchtime but again had to wait ages just to get someone to take our order. The food was ok but there isn't much you can do to spoil a Greek salad and Tsatsiki! Breakfast was pretty grim as well. Very watered down juice, bread, spam and processed cheese. We went out for breakfast in the end.
Our other gripe was the lack of hot water in the room. The water was cold in the morning and evening. Although we told the receptionist he just said 'Oh someone else said the water is cold'! We asked him if he could arrange to rectify the situation and although he said he would, the water remained cold throughout the week. We ended up showering on the beach as the water was warmer!!
There was a lot of banging and clattering from early morning until late at night, right outside our room which was a little annoying but as we are early risers it didn't particularly bother us although I would imagine some people would have found the constant drilling and sawing a nuisance. There were also a lot of arguments between the owner and the workmen which was rather disconcerting and not really the atmosphere we wanted on a relaxing break!
Staff were friendly enough but they didn't appear particularly concerned about our bad experiences in the restaurant or our lack of hot (or even warm) water.
Despite our grumbles we had a lovely time as we spent most of the week touring the island on a moped and visiting some of the fantastic beaches/small villages and the island of Kalymnos which must not be missed!! We also did the 3 Island trip which was good value.
The weather was amazing - not a cloud in the sky all week and Kefalos has lots of good, traditional restaurants to choose from if you don't want to eat at the Sacallis. Therefore despite the very 'average' accommodation (in our opinion) we enjoyed our holiday.
Would we stay the Sacallis again? Probably not but if you are happy to put up with little nuisances, cold showers and poor service then it might just be the place for you!
Happy holidays!!

The hotel was in a lovely location and backed onto a gorgeous beach. I paid for bed and breakfast which was a mistake. The breakfast was terrible, very limited choice and tasteless food. We ended up going over the road to a lovely cafe for breakfast every morning where we could enjoy hot food.

We decided to treat ourselves to a meal at the hotel one evening, and our orders came out wrong. Again, disappointing.

The bathroom flooded every time the shower was turned on which was annoying. We were woken at 7.55am to the sound of hammering behind our heads too. Rather irritating when we weren't even going down for the unfortunate breakfast.

We were humiliated by one of the older members of staff when we proceeded to play with a bat and ball in the pool. The pool was empty so we weren't disrupting anyone, however we were shouted at and told that games were not allowed (theer were no signs to indicate this) therefore, my advice would be to not bring children here.

Other than this it was a fairly average hotel. Not worth the money I paid. If you do decide to go here, I suggest self catering.

Hope this has helped your decision!

the sacallis inn is right on the beach with stunning views out into the bay, the rooms are kept spotless and have regular changes of towels and sheets. all the staff are very friendly and helpful, any problems are soon sorted. breakfast is basic served until 10am. the restaurant overlooks the beach and bay, serving excellent food and drinks slightly more expensive than in town but are you going to walk for 20 mins to save a euro or two. we would recommend the sacallis to anyone, the location cannot be beat.

This hotel was beyond our expectation easily 3 star plus.
We had a fantastic week and the familly Sacallis do look after you, all staff were friendly and were always on hand should you require. The real surprise is the setting at the back of the hotel situated on the beach front with views of the Ag.Stefanos island from the semi open air restaurant. During certain days there are arranged tours that eat in the restaurant though this is late afternoon and Stamatis the manager usually sits them inside, the reataurant is ample big enough to cope. We stayed B+B with the intention of eating out but the food was so good we dined here 6 nights out of 7, good chefs.
The room was good size overlooking the beach & pool, fresh towells every day and linen changed 3 times. The bathroom is clean though small, the usual gripe no bracket for shower handle (Greek thing) the floor remains wet for a while.
Overall we were really happy staying here in kefalos which was quiet, which we like and just a short walk to the surrouning bars. Be aware no local taxis to get you about the villiage most people seem to hire moped or quad bike to see the island, which is easily done in a day to kos town and Tignaki.
If travelling independant as we did Taxi from airport is 30 euro (probably the only taxi you see in kefalos) though Antonnio the owner with us returning on a sunday kindly drove us himself. Thankyou Antonnio & Maria

We would most definatley return

Great place and well run by Stamatis and team!

Just got back from a week at Sacallis Inn and cannot fault it. The location is spot on, and definitely the best part of the main beach. The owners maintain their part of the beach and it shows as when we walked along the strip, other parts were full of pebbles but Sacallis' part was lovely.
The food is some of the best I've had abroad, and I've travelled a lot. We went half board and were impressed by the variation and portion size at each meal. Breakfast is standard continental, which is fine. The chef is simply a legend!
We were in a studio apartment which was more than spacious enough for two people. We had a large bathroom with a bath and shower - absolutely fine. There was basic furniture, very comfy beds, large sofa and a useful standard sized fridge in the flat. The rooms are basic but what more do you need when on holiday?
The family that own Sacallis are some of the nicest people I've ever met, nothing was too much trouble. They work obscenely long hours but still have time for everyone - I was very impressed. Aragon the dog is a massive sweetie too. Really made to feel like part of the family.
Sunbeds are 3euro a day each on the beach, but as we found out on a walk, everywhere charges for sunbeds on the beach, so you can't blame them.
Kefalos itself is very quiet with not much going on - perfect if you're looking for a chilled out getaway, not great if you like to party.
All in all, it was the best location we could've asked for, lovely food and a great atmosphere and surroundings. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sacallis Inn to anyone - I'll be back myself next year for certain.

Room Tip: Go for a studio or bigger

The toilet seat was broken, sink and window sill were filthy, only hot water in the mornings. We aquired a bath mat on the 5th day but since the shower leaked, it made no difference as we had to use it and towels to mop up the floor. The breakfast was a disgrace and the same every day, everything was cheap and watered down. The evening meals were good but not much variation and the service was poor, we waited 45 minutes for some ice cream. The staff were smoking at the bar which we could smell when eating and we had to complain but they still carried on smoking. Whilst relaxing by the pool, we had to listen to a cement mixer as workers were on the complex. On the whole, we did not feel welcomed as we expected and we did not feel that the guests were the most important priority to the owners. We would not recommend this hotel and will never go there again ourselves!
