Nice complex not to far away from the main road and beach. The family that run the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and basic. Air con a must at 6 euro a day as during the night the rooms were unbarable. Pool area very small and hard to get a sun bed, so headed to the beach every day. Kefalos is a very low key resort and suitable for people looking for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: Request a high floor for nice views. Also if you are on a late flight home you can keep your room on...

the apartments are very very basic but clean and the family that run it are lovely they really couldnt do enough for us. It was very busy for the two weeks we were there which did mean little space at the pool and a bunfight for the sunbeds so we headed off to the beach most days for some peace away from the exceptionally noisy families we had the misfortune to coincide with. The resort itself, Kefalos, was a real let down, it's very run down and dilapidated. If you are looking for a lively little taverna to have a drink or bite to eat in the evenings this is not the place for you. Lots of bars and restaurants but all mostly empty and no atmosphere whatsoever. The locals all seem to blame it on the preference for the all inclusive resorts that have sprung up on the island and had a devastating effect on these smaller resorts. A shame as in its heyday it was probably lovely there. Not quite sure where Thomas Cook got their images of long golden beaches from as in the cold light of day they are far from golden, looking more like concrete dust than sand but once you negotiate the pebbles and sand to get in the sea it is nice and great for the windsurfers. The highlights of our hols were the two nights we spend in KosTown which was gorgeous so would recommend that to anyone. Overall we had an ok time but would never go back as we have seen much prettier and more interesting Greek Islands.

Room Tip: ask for a top floor room as some of the ground floor rooms are surrounded by trees and not able to c...

This was our first package holiday and our first time in Greece. I'd looked at all the reviews and the photos before choosing and I agree with most of the previous reviews. We ( me and my 14 year old son and 10 year old daughter) liked the apartment, basic, but clean and had all you really needed, loved the pool, clean and tidy, loved the bar, relaxed and not too busy, liked the food, simple and unfussy, good service, thought yiannis' family were great, especially Tony who was very helpful and friendly. The BBQ on the Tuesday is a must, very good value and lots of fun!

It's a nice quiet location away from kefalos up a quiet road, but still only 10 minutes away from the beach or up to the village above.

Eating out was ok, large portions but not really gourmet, tourist driven menus rather than quality, seafood was good, as were the fresh vegetables.

Water park was fun, not the biggest variety of rides but it wasn't rammed so easy to get about.

Back to Yiannis, a lovely quiet place where they do take care of you, and you have all you really need for a quiet holiday.

The Thomas Cook rep, Rachel was great too, knowledgable and helpful. The only downside to the holiday was the return flight, four hours delay with not a TC rep in sight too keep us informed!

Great apartments run by a great family, we stayed in a studio loads of cupboard & wardrobe space. Kitchen has full size kitchen, kettle, toaster and two rings. Sevvy makes wonderful breakfasts and snacks during the day. Pool lovely, loads of sunbeds and umbrellas, just a short stroll to the main strip in Kefalos. Barbeque on Tuesday great value for money 5 euros and then the family start Greek dancing making the guest join in. Kefalos beach is shingle but a short bus ride is Paradise Beach. Took bus to Kos town only 4.40 euros one way, it stops at Paradise Beach and Airport takes about an hour. Eat out every night using trip advisor restaurant listing no complaints. Would definitely visit again.

Only had 4 nights but I enjoyed every minute. You feel at home straightaway and the family are very welcoming. The barbecue on Tuesday is a must- fantastic value at only €5. A good selection of food, especially the local sausages! Fantastic fun after dinner with the dancing. I don't know where Yiannis gets his energy. Sevvy loves to join in and had great fun dancing with one of the guys.
There are 10 studios and 2 apartments. Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe, a toaster, kettle, 2 ring hob and decent size fridge plus the yummy jar of honey. Be aware that you won't sleep in late as "Costas the cockerel" gets up early!
The pool area is lovely with enough loungers and parasols for everyone. Perfect place to have one of Sevvy's breakfasts.
It is a pleasant 10 minute walk down the lane to the beach. I enjoyed the cocktails at Cafe Bravo- try number 24. Very good supermarket next door to Bravo called Better than Asda. If you need to buy cigarettes to take home this is the best to order them.
Take the local bus into Kos town, it's only €4.40 each way and takes about an hour. It also stops at Paradise Beach and the airport on the way.
Kefalos has so many places to eat so you are spoilt for choice.
I would recommend Yiannis apartments and Kefalos for a really chilled out holiday.

Clean basic accommodation, good size rooms, however was dated with minimal storage for clothes (we had 2 children with us). Kitchen facilities were basic and minimal - (as per normal greek standards). Bed was uncomfortable - mattress was well worn, felt like we were sleeping on the springs. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent swimming pool, crystal clear water, no chlorine smell - with sufficient sun loungers, which were good quality. Good snack bar with a small selection of snacks and drinks, reasonable prices. 15 minutes walk from the sea front and tavernas. We really enjoyed Aphrodite on the seafront - friendly staff, great food, good sized portions, you must try the home made icecream desserts.

We have always stayed in what one might term 'basic Greek accommodation', self-catering (aka eating out), somewhere to sleep etc. We take the four star treatment when we holiday in Belgium (Ieper). But Greece it all about relaxation for us and Yiannis' apartments tick all the right boxes as far as we are concerned. We have stayed four times and are due to go again later this June.
Why have we returned? Simply, we have been made to feel most welcome on each visit, have been 'looked after' by the family and it feels more authentically Greek than staying in an 'all-inclusive' or other type of hotel.
The rooms are kept clean and tidy, the pool bar is very good and welcoming (serves a nice selection of snacks at reasonable prices all cooked fresh - love the salads), clean and tidy also. Their Greek nights are very enjoyable AS LONG AS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PARTICIPATE, which unfortunately some people are loathe to do. Some people criticise the accommodation based on them 'being cold-shouldered' for not using the pool bar. I have seen no evidence for that, but why not be more a little bit more sociable and take the time to sit in a relaxing, friendly atmosphere, with a Mythos or Alpha? Try it, you just might like it. I think the 'problems' people have highlighted with the accommodation are a reflection of their own personalities rather than on the hospitality that is offered by Yiannis' family. Noise - never had an issue but like any place, the mix of people can affects other's enjoyment. We go outside school holidays when the clientelle are perhaps more inclined to a more sedate day rather than the screaming of kids (no doubt sun-burned due to over exposure or perhaps bored as this is not center parcs type of place!).
As a same-sex couple, we could not be happier at the friendly welcome we have received, and the friendly fellow guests we have enjoyed many an ouzo with at the bar, late into the evening.
Kefalos is a lovely relaxing resort. If you want lively got to Kardamena. If you want luxury find another hotel, but if you want friendliness, a warm welcome, to 'live' with a Greek family and share stories, opinions, differences, then Yiannis' should suit you nicely.
