I stayed in this hotel during a sad family occasion. I had filmed the funeral on an expensive digital camera, that also contained a recent marriage ceremony and other personal memories. On the day of my departure imagine my distraught state, when in addition with having to cope with the recent bereavement I found that the camera had disappeared. The time was quite close to check-out and I was informed by the remaining cleaning lady that the lady who had actually cleaned my room had "gone to Dublin for the weekend" - in other words at least 3 hours journey away. The management was reluctant to accept that anyone, apart from me, might possibly be responsible and we did a complete search of the room and rubbish but failed to recover the camera.
I was forced to drag my suitcase in a galeforce wind to the police station that had moved about 1.5 miles out of town, thereby missing my train. A chapter of errors, and irretrievable memories lost. Someone, somewhere has that camera in their possession but certainly it's no longer me.More
