We decided to travel again to Sandals Grande in January as we enjoyed it so much previous year. It is very consistent in rooms, cleanliness and service in fact a bit improved food and beverage service this year with new Manager Valentin!
Excellent service recieved from VAL in Josephines, DONNA at Front Desk, MARTIN in food & Beverage, SYLVANA in Josephines, & LOUANNE at the Cabanas, CHRISTAL in Bayside & we also really enjoyed speaking with Peter in the Pub.As always Jeva the playmaker is loads of fun.
The restaurants have changed a bit since last year, but to the better with a more authentic experience. We very much like the Italian restaurant at Grande and Neptunes seafood at La Toc. Entertain is basic, but cute... and always nice music in main lobby area. Resort is well laid out and lots of room to relax around. Love the gas fireplaces throughout the resort.
Rooms always clean and fully stocked, no bugs at all did we notice anywhere!!!

The charm of the staff is what keeps us coming back combined with the most beautiufl island.
everyone should visit St Lucia and Sandals Grande is a great option if you are a couple.

Room Tip: The swim up rooms on level one are great and don't hesitate to take a garden view room as they are nicely situated and very quiet and relaxing. If you can splurge go for the rondaval on the beach!

Wow, Wow, Wow. This is one of the most beautiful Islands I have ever seen. The resort was top notch. Everything you should expect from a sandals. What I would like to say about Grande is for people looking into the difference between Grande and Halcyon and La Toc. I am a young 40 and I was hoping for a socially fun experience. We got exactly that. Here is my take on the three resorts.

Halcyon - This place seemed to be set up for the couple that easily wanted to get away from "social activities" easily. Everything seemed like a maze here. The main pool area and bar area were nice and together but the crowd seemed very relaxed. The night I stopped there for the Hibachi grill it seemed very European and just people to themselves. Not a lot of young partiers

LaToc - I would like to write a better review but I did not see the resort in the entirety. Golfed at the coarse that was absolutely gorgeous but ankle deep soggy. They should have just shut it down that day. Then we couldn't even go down to the small beach because the waves had LaToc and Halcyon beaches shut down for three out of 7 days. Got to see LaToc from a boat tour and awesome looking place, small beach and major hillside hiking to get around the resort.

Grande - Im very biased (as this is where I stayed) but also because my wife and I hung out with about 7 couples that were all there for honeymoons. Good mix between mid 20's to mid 30's. What was awesome were the fire pits that came on at sun down. Immediate hang outs for any one looking to socialize through the night. The resort as a whole had a great party vibe during the day, but it was up to you to make the night plans happen.

We went to the Grande Dec 13-21 after being moved from Sandals Grenada (which did not open on time). Sandals not only moved us to another property, they paid our airfare change fees, and gave us a free week to use at Sandals in the future to make up for the inconvenience! We are Sandals Diamond members (which means 10 or more trips to Sandals) and had stayed at both other St. Lucia Sandals' properties. We have also been to Antigua, Whitehouse, Grande Riviera, and Carlyle/MoBay/SRC--so you could say we know what we are comparing. On to the review.

Arrival: We flew into Castries, and despite confirming that Sandals knew our arrival time and location the night before, no Sandals reps were there to meet us. We took a cab and Sandals took care of it when we arrived--but still, not the best start.

Check-In: We got to the hotel around 730pm and were promptly taken to our room for check-in. We booked the Lovers Lagoon Honeymoon Premium, and think we got a slight upgrade to Caribbean Luxury Oceanview. The room was fine, and had a nice view of Rodney Bay, but we kind of expected an upgrade to a Club Level room because we knew club level rooms were available, we were earning our diamond membership level, and our 70 paid nights free week on this trip, and we had been bumped from Grenada. That was a little bit of a let down.

'Neville the Devil' at Soon Come Back: When we got up the next day, we stopped by the SCB desk and spoke to Neville about our slight disappointment with the lack of an upgrade. Later that afternoon, Neville called us and told us he arranged an upgrade to a club level suite (Caribbean Beachview Club Level Room Cap Estate Building). THANK YOU NEVILLE! He went out of his way to make sure we were happy. And when the SCB team forgot to recognize us as Diamond Members at the returning guest dinner dinner, he arranged to give us the same gift the other Diamond Members received just before we left. THANKS AGAIN.

Diving: This is the reason we LOVE St. Lucia. The diving is great. The reefs are beautiful. The dive team, especially Nathalia, Peaches, Martin, Romanus, and the awesome boat captain made sure we had a great time. Thanks team--we enjoyed diving with you and hanging out with you. We saw sea horses, eels, lots and lots of tropical fish, small rays, flounder....and of course the Pitons. For video, go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKEF_MMK46M ("St. Lucia Southern Cross."). It was great to be able to get on the boat right at the resort (as opposed to having to drive into Castries like you do at Halcyon and Le Toc).

Food: We thought all of the food was fantastic, but we are not "foodies." Regardless, we thought it much better than Whitehouse. The hotel manager gave us a complimentary dinner at Gordons (which was the best food we had so thanks to the manager and the Gordans' crew). The biggest downside was that low occupancy meant Josephine's was closed at 6pm. Very disappointing because we didn't want the restaurant desserts, we wanted crepes! We also felt the property could have used one more dinner option. We went to the Halcyon one night for Sushi and dinner on the Pier, but honestly, the Grande could use a sushi/japanese restaurant of its own.

Room: Our third floor Caribbean Beachview Club Level Room in the Cap Estate Buildinghad a stunning view of Rodney Bay--which was honestly its best feature. It had been remodeled and we thought it was nice, but no spa tub, and nothing "fabulous" about it. Of course, we were comparing to our Club Level room at Antigua which was gorgeous. Regardless, we were happy with our room. Our maid took great care of us and we had no problem with cleanliness. The room seemed a little dark, but not a big deal to us. We also enjoyed having breakfast delivered to our room every morning before our dives. it was ALWAYS on time. Thank you room service.

Grounds and Pool: The grounds were lovely, as was the beach. Of the three St. Lucia properties, the beach here is defintely the nicest. The pool was fine, and not really crowded, but we didn't spend much time in it--it was too cold and after spending half the day diving anyway, we had our fill of the water.

Bars: We liked the beach bar during the day, and the pub at night. Nick, the manager there, went out of his way to help us enjoy our stay. Thanks NICK! We also really liked the bartender there (but his name slips my mind).

Off Property Activity: We hiked the ruins at Fort Rodney (to the top of both peaks) and thought it well worth the 6 dollar entry fee to the park. We also did a speed boat/mud bath/waterfall/Marigot Bay/lunch tour with Exodus. We booked it on the beach with Lyle. Honestly, all of these tours seemed the same (Joe Knows, Simon Says, Exodus), but the Exodus Boat was a little newer and faster. 100/pp seems to be the going rate. We would recommend it; but don't expect lunch at Lyle's "aunty's" house. His aunty might be the one who made the food (and it was good), but it was not at her house.

Summary: We would go back, but we are not really sure why this property is so much more expensive than Le Toc, which we liked just as much when we stayed there. The main attraction for this property over Le Toc (for us) is the on-property dive boat and non-red flag beach (meaning sailboats could go out).

Thanks to the staff, particularly water sports, we had a great time and loved St. Lucia. We hope all of our new friends fared okay after the Christmas Eve storm.

Room Tip: The Lagoon pools do not have ocean views--and I heard the pools were cold. We enjoyed the Caribbean Beachview Club Level Room in the Cap Estate Building with the view of Rodney Bay.

We stayed here November 13 as the last stop on our 4 week trip to St Lucia for my 60th birthday! We read reviews and our experience is it is true. We loved Sandals Grande and will definitely go back. We loved everything about it....from the beautiful beach, pool (and friendly bar staff) reception staff, the local authentic entertainment, the included activities exercises and water, and the top rate food! Although a wider choice of eating venues would have been appreciated. We did venture into the town for an Indian one night which was one of the best we have eaten. I suppose you could dine at the other Sandals but we drove up from Marigot Bay where we had an apartment, prior to that we stayed at Sandals La Toc and we were aware of the distance which does put some time on your 'night out!
We were very visually impressed and can't say enough about this elegant place though!!
It is a perfect size, everything is so convenient. The rooms here are Grande, are beautiful and clean... simple elegance. We had an upper level room with a garden view, just wonderful--had some minor road noise when you were in the bathroom but this never bothered us.
All staff were courteous and we had the pleasure of a few special interactions with: Piano man, wonderful massage therapist--Thank you for all your special attention!
Also the sunset seen was amazing. We enjoyed the boat trip to the pitons springs and the mud bath was so much fun.as was the boat cruise as well.
We met some very interesting and like minded people. All in all a very lovely end to our holiday of a lifetime! Thank you Sandals Grande St Lucia we will be back.
