Bliss at the Harmony Suites

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 24, 2007
We have just returned from a week at the Harmony Suites & we can't wait to go back. We had read all the reviews here & it was exactly as we had expected. Yes it could have done with a bit of paint here & there but overall it was wonderful. We had booked a luxury waterfront suite & were initially a bit disappointed not to get the ground floor one we had requested. However it soon became apparent that we had far more privacy in our 1st floor one, plus the impression given that you have a private sunbathing deck in the ground floor ones is not actually true, all guests can use the decks, which caused a bit of aggro between some guests. The suite was huge, the double jacuzzi fantastic & the view gorgeous. A bonus was the no kids under 16 rule which meant that the small swimming pool was fine. Julie the owner & Esther & Collette on the front desk were lovely & nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant , The Edge, had the most beautiful setting & was in our opinion far & away the best in Rodney Bay - the chef/owner Bobo was always around & the maitre d' Sebastian was superb. The pedicure I had in Pearl's Bodycare salon at the hotel was one of the best ( & longest !) I have ever had at a very reasonable price. We thought the Harmony Suites was fantastic value for money & in a perfect position right in the middle of Rodney Bay village.

My partner and I spent 9 nights in November 2005 booked via Expedia at the Harmony Suites. We flew with Virgin which I would definitely recommend and then got a taxi ($35) from the airport to the hotel which was at the other end of the island.
We stayed in room no 12, which had an unobstructed view of the water. There was a double jacuzzi bath in the accomodation. I would however say that the internal decoration was a bit tired and could do with a bit of a make-over.
The restaurant was in a lovely position, food was good, but the service a bit hit and miss. I understand from reading subsequent reviews that this has now been taken over, refurbished and re-opened.
Food and drink in St Lucia is great. My favourite restaurant was very close to the hotel, turn left out of the hotel and it on on the right at the end of the road, I can't remember the name now.
The beach is only a 10 min walk away. There is a great bar and restaurant there for lunch. Th only thing I found annoying was the local people trying to sell you things all the time.
We went on two trips, one a catermeran trip, which was good, except that it was our only day of bad weather. We also went on a helicopter ride over the island which was fantastic and I would definitely recommend.
Overall I would recommend this holiday.

I booked very last minute and stayed at Harmony Suites St Lucia for the New year.
The Hotel is in a central location in the middle of Rodney Bay. Even so very central to all local shops, restaurants, nightlife it was very quiet and peaceful. The pool is very small and thanks G there were no screaming children as the hotel does not allow children in the pool or on the beautiful grounds without adult supervision.

My suite was overlooking the water front and I woke up everyday to amazing views. I liked the size of my room, and would have liked more amenities such as a microwave oven perhaps. But don't forget I booked last minute and this was high season!

Little hickups of shower and telephone not working were resolved quickly by the staff after a few reminders.

There is a minimart on site which has everything one would need.

A fantastic long and sandy beach is 5 Minutes across the street and there is everything from watersports to a quite beach cabana.

I am a fitness freak and the hotel arranged for me to use a gym and SPA facility in the hotel across the road for a few USDs - I was happy.

I would say it is perfect for couples or single travellers like myself looking for relaxation yet central location. No need to haggle with taxis as you can walk to most locations.

all together it was a delightful experience and I would recommend this hotel to any couple/single traveller that wants a different, quiet yet central location different from boring all-inclusive resort hotels.
St Lucia has so much to offer and a lot going for it! Check out the sulphur springs for a very special experience.

      Delighted traveller

The two of us have just returned from a week's stay at the harmony suites and i must say we left with mixed feelings. We booked via expedia and stayed in one of the water front suites.

Firstly, the location is fantastic if you don't want to do one of those all inclusive Caribbean type off holidays. Loads of places to eat and drink near by, the location on the inner harbor is just ideal and with the beach just a short walk away.

However, our room certainly had seen better days with an over all tired look, part of the ceiling had fallen down and not been re-plastered, the shower (although huge) ran hot and cold depending on what other rooms were doing and the main tap for the sink stuck full on about 3 days into our stay.

Now, although asking for it to be fixed, it never was during our stay, leaving us to turn it on and off via the shut off valves in the wall :(

But saying all that, i left with fond memories of the place, 90% of which was due to the fantastic water front location. If your not going to upgrade your room to one of the water front suites then i would really recommend going somewhere else (the Coco Palm/Coco Kreole looked nice when we walked through them), but if you do, and are prepared to put up with its little charms, then go for it as you won't regret it

Just a quick mention about food - Don't go to the steak house next to the shopping center, its big $$$ (the most expensive that we eat at) to be served by disinterested people while sat on plastic garden chairs!..

Over all we were eating out for about 300-400 EC per night for the two of us. Italian was fantastic, edge was nice although you get the feeling that more effort was put into the presentation rather than the food itself, but our favorite by far (and the only place we went back to) was buzz, 1st class service and fantastic food…

We spent 3 days at the Harmony Suites in mid-July. We had 2 rooms -a standard room and a waterfront suite -the latter I can thoroughly recommend -ask for a ground floor one but upstairs was fine for us as it backed on to our sons' room. Management were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and we could have self catered if we had wanted to -the only meals we had in were breakfast. There is a supermarket on site and a bigger one about 5-10 mins walk away. We only used the the jacuzzi once as it was a bit time consuming filling it with water.
We ate in the restaurant attached to the hotel twice as it was excellent -in fact the best food we had in St Lucia. We also ate at the Lime -a cheap local option and the Spinnaker on Reduit beach.
The Rodney Bay area is a good option if you like to walk out to restaurants in the evening but I didn't think Reduit Beach was amazing (we went to Antigua the week after we were in St Lucia and there the beaches are amazing!) -we stayed in the south of the island for the last week in St Lucia and I preferred that.
