Villa Kerasia is in the hills south of Iraklion, above the small town of Kerasia. You look out of over olive trees and grape vines across the valley. It was a wonderful place to return to after a day spent exploring south or north. Our host Babis was attentive and ever so helpful- from carrying out baggage up and then down to advising us on how to get where we were going and how to find help on shipping things home. The local food was delicious and we were lucky to be able to get dinner twice with our fellow guests at the big dining table. Other travelers who mention the egg fried in olive oil were spot on. It was delicious as was the local yogurt, as was our host's raki served after dinner.

Room Tip: The view across the valley from our room was fabulous but did look out to the east.

Wonderful restored house, clean simple rooms, beautiful views and an excellent host Babis who knows the area very well. Highly recommended. The location allows for day trips to most of the island (even Chania). Only downside is pillows are a little hard but this was sorted out the following night.

Room Tip: Upstairs with balcony and view

We've stayed in this wonderful B&B before and came back this year for a 5 day stay. To me it's a perfect place, because it's away from tourism, you find absolute tranquility, a real Cretan surrounding and a perfect host, who looks after you as if you're family. The villa is beautiful and very well taken care of, the breakfast fantastic and in the near surrounding you can find local taverna's serving very good food.
We'll be back for sure!

Room Tip: All rooms are good and each of them has it's own charm. Downstairs somewhat cooler, upstairs different views

We are 5 mature adults on our third trip to Greece and first trip to Crete. We had the pleasure of spending three nights at Villa Kerasia with our wonderful host Babis. The reviews and photos of Villa Kerasia do not do it justice. The villa, which was constructed under the direction of Babis over several years , was from what was left of a prior structure. It is truly impressive both inside and out. Classical ,yet with modern utilities, it was a joy just to explore. The outside of the villa and the entire area reminded me of Italy with grape and olives growing everywhere. The views were stunning and the nearby small towns charming. We were within 30 to 45 minutes of the ancient ruins of Knosos ,Gortn’s (Roman)and Faistos(Phaesto). 5000 TO 7000 BC incredible. We also were 30 minutes from Heraklion (Iraklion) the capitol of this area . We were less than an hour from the Matala beach , St Pauls Dunes Beach , and the Amari Valley ( breathtaking but you must travel the high roads to traverse.) Or you could relax at the villa with a book by the pool. Our room , which was less than 90 euros, had a canopy bed and a balcony with a stunning view. The rooms were clean , spacious and had large, efficient ensuite bathrooms. However ,the one thing that makes this villa different is Babis and his staff. The price includes a wonderful breakfast with yogurt , honey , cereals , fresh fruits , eggs- either scrambled or cooked in olive oil (my favorite), fresh breads and even fresher fruits. Babis grows and or produces his own wine , honey , raki and olive oil- all excellent quality. We were also fortunate to have Babis and his staff prepare two dinners for us, both of which included requested items and surprises. On the second dinner we were all stuffed with the appetizers and thought the meal was over only to have Babis bring out the main course which we ate with relish. His beets and vegetarian dishes are so good that I felt like giving up meat, and the price was less than we paid for most meals at restaurants. After two dinners , three breakfasts, and three nights, the bill was less than 300 euro per couple. We Love the off season.Babis and his staff did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. At dinner and breakfast we meet several other couples from Belgium who were regulars at Vlla Kerasia and were most interesting to discuss travel and politics. The other guests were part of the experience that makes this villa such a joy.We will always remember this part of our trip and Babis. We hope to return again in the near future. Thanks Babis.

Room Tip: The rooms with the balcony overlooking the grape vine and olive trees in the mountain setting were extraordinary but all the rooms looked great.

Babis is the best host ever! We loved the dinners around the long table where we met travellers from all over Europe. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We would return to Crete just to be able to stay at Villa Kerasia again.
