Stayed for 2 nights to unwind before another busy week. Service from arrival to departure was excellent. Room was spacious and bright with great view. Food and beverage of a good standard. My only comment would be regarding breakfast buffet set up which did not seem to flow well. I was a little was surprised to see tinned peaches and pears on offer. Overall I would recommend the breakfast set up is re evaluated. Some new buffet tags would also improve the look. That said I would certainly have no hesitation to recommend the property. It is good value for money with super beach, accommodation and friendly staff.

Stayed: February 2013, traveled with friends

This hotel is somewhat isolated on the Indian ocean coast just south of Diba (please note that it is much further North than where Tripadvisor shows it on the map), but the hotel provides everything for a short break with an excellent pool, a range of activities and several restaurants. We would particulary recommend the Indian. (Most Indian restaurants in UAE are vastly better than any in the UK.) The service throughout was faultless.
The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was the the restrictions on childrens meals. None of the restaurants open till 7 PM which can be awkward with hungry kids. The main buffet restaurant has a 'Childrens Corner' which contained, believe it or not, only 3 items, chicken wings, battered onion rings and a mixed salad. The children with us would not touch any of that. Fortunately a helpful waiter was able to provide more suitable food for our fussy two, ie chicken nuggets and chips.

Room Tip: All rooms have good sea views. Club rooms are more expensive but higher up.

This is a superb hotel and I thoroughly recommend it. I opted for the dine around inclusive package which was excellent value for money. This was very clearly explained in detail at reception so there was no confusion. All the restaurants and bars were a pleasure to visit and the staff were extremely helpful and polite with nothing being too much trouble. The Hotel pays immense attention to cleanliness even to the point of hand sanitizer being offered at all restaurants. The room was spacious and well equipped with great views of the sea. Complimentary water was supplied every day. There is a time restraint on Astros bar which i didn't totally understand, as it was never over populated. No tar was evident on the beach which provided excellent walks. It is however 2 hours drive from Dubai, which does make the flight and transfer protracted but the transfer provided by Alpha Cars on behalf of Virgin was excellent. The pool was also spotless and extremely well supervised by a team of lifeguards. Travelling as a couple I did not find any problems with children. Well done Le Meridien!!

Room Tip: The standard rooms are perfectly acceptable but having the balcony is an added extra

Got the club room; much more pricey but includes one fold-out single bed if you have a child and the room is LARGE. Great bathroom and balcony vice from upper floor. Club room includes canapés from 4:30-5:30 in lounge, and drinks (selection of wine, beer, spirits) in bar from 7-9pm, again with canapés. We thoroughly enjoyed this, and will definitely be back!

Pools are spread out, child friendly, and beach is great.

Breakfast, included in club room, is fantastic.

Only downsides: Internet is expensive in rooms but is free in the lounge.

I think it's the staff that make this place so relaxing and memorable. If you're looking for a bustling nightlife, stag-nights and picking people up - this is NOT the place to go. It's very family orientated and child friendly (we have a 2 1/2 year old). Just as an example, the chef heard my daughter ask for pasta one evening when none was on offer in the buffet - he walked over, asked which sort of pasta she would prefer and made it especially for her - just amazing

The service levels (always with a smile) put Europe to shame. Consummately professional and always determined to go the extra 26.2 miles to make your stay special. Within a day they'll know your name and your preferences - and preempt them. So many excellent staff - Bel just one of a wonderful team.

In my view, the food at Gona is the best (of a fantastic selection of a number of excellent places to eat). Such good service at all places - special mention to Dhika.

Staff in the penguin club (kids club) couldn't do enough to keep us involved with the play which my daughter loved. Again, so many people to mention - so many stars - personified by David on the Animation team. If your child is under 4 you need to be there in there with them but the soft play area is great and they have a timetable of activities for kids of all ages.

On the subject of the animation team - they politely try to get you involved with whatever's going on but are never overbearing.

Rooms are comfortable and always clean. Great bathrooms with separate lav's, shower (huge and powerful) - with bath and sink in main area of the bathroom.

My advice is to take the dine around option (as said above, we found the combination of places to eat great - and very different from one another (Thai, buffet, Indian, pool and beach)). All staff knew exactly what was included and what wasn't and would advise accordingly. There is also a great kids menu in all restaurants and around the pool which was both healthy and exciting.

Didn't actually venture as far as the beach - the swimming pool was great for us (very child friendly and watched over, hawkishly, by a team of lifeguards).

Finally, the drivers were great. I know he isn't strictly part of the hotel, but Virgin arranged the driver from the airport to the hotel (1 hr 45 mins) even stopped, on his own initiative, and bought water for the 3 of us and a chocolate for my daughter.
