This was our third trip to Belize and our second time to stay at Mystic River. We absolutely love it here! Mystic is in the jungle, but it has every service and amenity that you could want. Tom and Nadege, and their entire staff, are wonderful. If you need something, all you have to do is ask. The rooms are wonderful...with king-size beds (ours had a canopy), wood-burning fireplaces, beautiful bathrooms, etc. The staff goes out of their way to take care of you. They supply the firewood every night for your fireplace...and then light it for you! So, you can be as lazy or as active as you would like here. There are lots of activities to do or you can laze at the pool, take a lazy float on the river, get a massage in your room, take a nap, OR go horseback riding, ziplining, hiking, etc. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mystic River to anyone going to Belize!!!

My partner and I spent 2 nights at mystic river and wished we could've stayed longer , we had the best time , the scenery and views are truly breath taking , our accomadation , perfect , the staff couldn't of been more attentive , food was to die for and owners Tom and Nadege are gorgeous and made us feel like family . I particularly loved having breakfast in the stunning dining area being able to watch all the birds and iguanas coming down from the trees to feed on the feeding stations , one night we even got up close and personal with a bat which was fab :-) we are definitely planning a return trip here and will take up the many activities on offer next time .

My husband and I loved this peaceful sanctuary in the jungle overlooking the Macal River. We spent 4 relaxing nights here with superb food, lodging and service. The staff is the friendliest that we have met on our many trips. Mystic River has it all- you can be independent and do your own thing, or have Nadege and her fine staff plan amazing outings for you every day. We felt well taken care of and very relaxed by the end of our stay. The special touches- a thermos of coffee on our doorstep in the morning, and having a fire lit for us on our return to our room at night-just wonderful! We would like to return with our whole family- they would all love it! A perfect spot for everyone! Thanks Nadege and everyone for a special relaxing vacation away from it all!

Room Tip: All room wonderful and private and

What can we say about Mystic River?

We had been backpacking through Belize then heading on to Guatemala but stayed at MR for Christmas 2012 so this was our bit of luxury to look forward to and wow, it certainly was....

Firstly the pickup that the hotel offers is brilliant. We must have been approx 2hrs away and the driver was one of the hotels’ guides. He was punctual, and a great guy full of interesting information about Belize and its people.

We were both quite awestruck when we were shown around as it is really beautiful! The room was elegant with a huge four poster bed and gorgeous bathroom. The food was amazing and we even struggled to decide what to have on a number of occasions.

MR has incredibly helpful staff that makes it their priority to make you feel like they are looking after your every whim. We went in the winter (December), and every night at dinner the staff asks if you want a log fire making up in your room. At that time of year and because of the altitude it can get cool at night so it is worthwhile, and great to come back to! A basket is left outside your door every morning so you can take tea or coffee on the balcony before breakfast which is a nice touch.

There is lots of wildlife around the grounds of MR such as iguana’s and loads of stunning birds. The birds are very brave; they will try and steal your breakfast if you let them! But mostly they (and the iguana’s) hang round on the massive bird table eating fruit.

We felt like we had plenty of privacy when we wanted it as the bungalows are set apart from each other just enough that you feel separate and don’t feel overlooked. It never felt like there were too many people around, in fact it felt like we were the only guests on some days!
We saw some paintings in the hotel reception/gift shop by a local artist that we really liked and eventually purchased; Nadege pulled out ALL the stops and helped us to get them sent back to the UK safely.

As part of our package we went to ATM cave which was mindblowing and Tikal and both of the guides were really really good. The trips are well worth it!

Finally we should mention we did have a few encounters with creepy crawlies.... A persistent moth, a scorpion and a large spider but there was nothing we couldn’t cope with and what do you expect from a hotel that is essentially in the middle of the jungle?

All in all we had a great time!

Hello Becky,
It was a pleasure for us to help you get those amazing paintings to your home in the UK! Make sure you send me a photo of the framing job please. I would love to see them in their new home. Please come visit us again in the future. We would love to have you with us for a second time! Take care and have a wonderful day.

There are few resorts that can gracefully bridge the gap between parental leisure and youthful engament. Mystic River Resort is one of those places that does it in spades.

Beautifully nestled on a peninsula overlooking the Mystic River, the resort has embraced the natural beauty of the rainforest to enhance the visitor's experience. May it be owner Nadege's cheerful hospitality or Tom's seemingly limitless knowledge of the region, guests find themselves wishing they could turn minutes into hours.

As a father of a 5-year old boy, I was deeply impressed by the menu of activities that my family could enjoy without sacrificing comfort or sophistication. From dawn trips with Tom to feed the resort's animals (rabbits, horses, new born chicks), to fetching newly laid eggs and organic vegetable for breakfast, to meandering down the river in inner tubes, the resort grounds allowed us to mix education, relaxation and appreciation for Belize's unique environment simultaneously.

Should the family feel the need to venture deeper into the jungle, the possibilities seem limitless. Handled professionally by informed, articulate guides, Mystic River will arrange your excursions, pack your lunches and welcome you home for a delicious dinner. Should you choose to explore the Mayan ruins and magical caves that litter the landscape like ancient testimonials to a mysterious people or become a climbing post for dozens (literally) of newborn Iguanas and butterflies, your camera will come home as full of stories as you do.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a few days at this marvelous establishment.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We so enjoy having children stay with us and Tom is truly a master at making sure they enjoy their stay with us, whether it be collecting the eggs for breakfast in the morning, petting our new chicks or ducks, and showing the little ones all the critters we have here in the Jungle! Thank you again for chosing Mystic River Resort for your family vacation and we hope to see you again in the future.
Take care and have a wonderful day.
