I was here with my daughter in June 2010. If we had read the info carefully ahead of time, we would not have been shocked at the stairclimb to get to this magnificent getaway. In order to get that million-dollar view in a place accessible only by boat, there is only one way and that is up, up, up, and again, up the stairs. There are benches along the way and an intercom to call up to the lodge if you need help with luggage. The owner and host, a Belgian man, Thierry Delrue, is as wonderful a host as you'll ever find. He can arrange just about anything you might need and will provide transportation to the lodge from a nearby dock via his jeep (this is about 3/4 mile from the lodge and as far as you can go by car). but for the infirmed, it is good to know; just call ahead so they can prepare. They will do this for you free-of-charge upon arrival and departure, but there is a nominal fee if you need it more often. You will want to island-hop while at Lake Atitlan, so you may be going in and out frequently. The views of the volcanic mountains surrounding this gorgeous lake is astounding. I'm sure there is no better place to view it than Tzununa. The staff is friendly and totally accommodating, the food is excellent with a lovely menu. Computers are available; a clean, sparkling swimming pool is on the grounds. One of the best features is that the drinking water is filtered. Another is the music with dinner, sometimes live music by the talented host. Thierry has built this beautiful place while being futuristic and very energy conservative with solar panels. We really enjoyed it here; there is plenty to see and do in the area, but returning to the lodge each day is total relaxation.

There could not be a better way to experience Lago Atitlan than staying at Lomas de Tzununa. The owners run the show themselves and wonderfully welcoming, the food is amazing and view cannot be matched. My me, my wife and her parents visited and could not be happier with the price and quality of the accommodations. It is affordable but feels luxurious. The entire estate was built by hand and the craftsmanship is nearly as impressive almost as the glorious beauty of Atitlan. The hotel staff was very helpful arranging boats for travel to the various villages and helping us understand and respect the local customs. I still have dreams of swimming in the pool high above the lago in the warm afternoon sun while sipping on Ron Botran.

This hotel is tucked away on a steep hillside overlooking the lake. We spent three very relaxing nights here and spent our days relaxing by the pool and exploring the villages and countryside around the lake. The food is excellent and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Our last stop at the lake was Lomas. We loved Lomas so much we extended our stay an extra two days. Thierry and Maria are wonderful hosts. The views are stunning, it's so peaceful and tranquil, I'm hoping to hold on to that serenity long after our stay. From Lomas, we visited other towns during the day, but ate all of our dinners there. The selection and variety on the menu gave us plenty of options for dinner. The meals were very reasonably priced and the quality was good. I did not want to leave this wonderful cocoon.

I stayed there with my husband seeking for relax and nature and we liked!
The hotel has great views towards the lake, feeling surrounded by nature. Loved to trip around the hotel, enjoying nature and buying local crafts. Excellent room and breakfast with a nice service.
