Description: Whether travelling by land or water, you'll always arrive to a warm welcome at The Black Horse in Great Linford. We're a cosy waterside pub serving well-kept cask ales, exquisite wines and tasty, unpretentious pub-food, which can be enjoyed inside or out thanks to our lovely decked dining area overlooking the Grand Union canal.

I went with some work colleagues One of whom was vegan and I am a vegetarian. They do offer a separate vegan menu you just have to ask. I went for Halumi and chips and it was very very greasy as was all of our food. Overall it was just average the only outstanding thing was the service. It was very expensive for what it was and to be honest I have had that meal cooked better at standard chain restaurants..

We have just visited here for the second time. The first time was a meal with friends, this weekend we were in a large group that were given an area to the side of the main restaurant. We were a large, noisy ground and we all ordered separately - it was a recipe for disaster but actually the food came promptly and there were no problems and the food was all very good indeed.

Recommended - plus the pub / restaurant overlooks the canal so is particularly appealing in good weather.

We turfed up here on Sunday the 26th august for some dessert, we wish we had gone a bit earlier as we had a dog with us which limited where we sat so not a lot of space left at 3 pm, the staff were very nice and helpful we were told when we got there that there was one thing they had non left of but the desserts they did have were delish and should highly recommend

On our continued quest to find the best Sunday lunch (not specifically roast) in MK this Sunday we decided on THE BLACK HORSE in Great Linford.

As soon as we entered we felt like we were in a pub in the middle of the country side.
The ambience was warm and cosy which was a bonus as the weather was so miserable.
We were greeted by a young man at the bar who was very friendly and took us to our table.
Within a few minutes our fabulous server Sandy was offering us drinks and giving us a menu.

We were served some homemade tortillas with shedded crispy carrot which was a lovely was to get our taste buds going.
We started with Salmon tacos and lamb & balsamic koftas followed but a trio of roast meats and a roast chicken dinner.
Food was wonderful and everything was the perfect temperature. Roast potatoes on our plates were cooked in dripping I believe and had the perfect ‘crunchy yet fluffy’ texture.
All the mates were cooked perfectly as was the beg although the parsnips could have done with a little more roasting.
Throughout our meal Sandy our server and Julie another server checked on us to make sure we were happy and of course if we needed anything else.
Even if there was anything wrong with the food the attentiveness of Sandy and Julie would have made up for it.
They were friendly and recommended dishes and just made our experience at The Black Horse even more enjoyable.

This is a sister restaurant of THE WAVEDON ARMS which we recently dined at and We most definitely prefer THE BLACK HORSE. The menu may be slightly different but the quality of food and the service was second to none.

Could not fault a thing at THE BLACK HORSE. Our favourite gastropub so far. We will most certainly be back soon.
