From reading the rave reviews on their Facebook page we thought we would give Coles a try. Opted for the afternoon tea deal and found it very lacking in quality - the sandwiches were dry and the scones were certainly not like mother used to make or even what she could knock up on a bad day! It was all very cramped and the service chaotic - not very friendly either when you dare to complain! Believe the spam fritters are good at lunchtime - perhaps they should stick to that? Will not be going back.

I've visited Coles twice and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits.
Bubble and squeak with spam and fried egg was lovely and the cream tea did not disappoint (although maybe bigger scones needed).
Great staff, fab music in background and proper tea.

Myself and 7 other family members aged from 11-82 visited the tearoom on a Saturday afternoon. We had booked for 2pm but unfortunatley we were delayed by traffic and the tearoom had no problem in putting our booking back for an hour. The tearoom can only be discribed as delightful. The bone china was adorable, the decor was charming and the staff polite and helpful.
If you want tea made with a teabag, instant coffee and a slab of cake the go to a cafe, if you want an elegant afternoon with properly made tea, small but beautiful and filling sandwiches, not to mention the delightful handmade cakes, scones, biscuits and trifle then go to Coles tearoom.
After our visit we are planning our own 1940s garden party so the tearoom had a great affect on us.

Went to Coles Vintage Tea Rooms for lunch with my husband. Really quaint, loved the 40's design , china cups and saucers, vintage music and the staff dressed up. Served by a really chatty lovely young lady who offered us the food menu. Which was varied and different, things we could imagine my grandparents eating. I chose the Scrambled Eggs with Salmon and my husband the Welsh Rabbit which we both enjoyed and I decided to be a bit adventerous and have the rhubarb and custard tea which was lovely. Obviously my husband couldn't say no to the home made cakes and gave the Lemon Drizzle cake 10/10. Will definately be back for the Bubble & Squeek and Spam Fritters and the Afternoon Tea on our next day off together. Well done for something different to the normal bland coffee shops in every high street now.

Have been to Coles twice and had a great time! First time I had the rhubarb and custard tea (tasted lovely) and we made our way through a number of cakes, all of which were scummy. Second time went for lunch and can totally recommend the ham,egg and bubble and squeak.yum yum yum! When we arrived they were full but we were told come back in 10mins and there will be a table ready, which is was. Yes there are currently only four tables but you can phone ahead and reserve a table. . The staff were friendly and attentive, the decor is great. Will make this a regular place to meet with friends and am determined to make my through all the cakes !!
