“Saturday chaos”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

Right before I start I am well aware that Saturdays are much more busy then the rest of the week but was not prepared for it to be that busy, the place was full to the brim we wondered around to try and find a table after about 10 minutes or so a table was vacated and we all sat down amongst the piles of dirty plates and cutlery, well yes the table had just been use by all I can describe as a load of dirty pigs I don't know wot was worse the piles of food scattered all over the top of the table or the mountain of food underneath it sticking to everyone's shoes, after being seated for about 15 minutes husband went off to find someone to clean the table this was done quite quickly when bought to there attention, the young man cleaning the table was just about to go leaving us to sit in the food underneath it which could be clearly seen, when asked if he would be cleaning the food of the floor our feet wear in it was met with a O yes OK then, when he left the table felt slightly sticky along with a couple of the menus,we ordered 5 cokes one had to go back as the glass was dirty, this was put right, now to the food we all had the steak and it was very nice and the deserts wear good to,good value pub grub at the end of the day, and they must be doing something right as the place is always full,Just a shaky start.

Johnboymills,
Firstly Thank you for your feedback, good or bad we encourage all feedback as it allows us to focus on our negatives and celebrate our successes.

As you can imagine in this day and age customers thrive on great value and at The Travellers joy we find ourselves in a position where we are becoming more and more popular not just at weekends but throughout the week also.

We recommend if customers are planing a visit in advance that they ring up and make a reservation, This allows us to have the table ready for when they arrive.

Regarding the football fans in the bar, I do apologise for the noise. You may have noticed we've recently installed 'planters' which seperate the bar area to the restaurant. This is in the hope that the drinkers in the bar will use the sports bar area and result in a quieter atmosphere in the restaurant.

I'm glad you had a chance to view the numerous deals we have on offer through out the week and from myself and all the staff at The Travellers Joy, we hope to see you soon whether it be during the week or at the weekend.

Once again, thankyou for your feedback.

Regards

Travellers Joy Management.

“Pooooooooooooooor”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

Went there twice. The first time was a birthday dinner. The meal was ok nothing special, quit bland. But after living for a while in England I'm noticing most of the food in Rayleigh is without any kick. The second time was on Sunday. The place was v busy. After getting a drink from the bar we got seated. The food this time wasn't even ok. would go even farther was rotten. Nt v high score from me for this place. :( The staff seems v friendly but unfortunately that not going make up 4 the quality of food.

“Busy Pub but lacked atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Busy pub popular with a wide range of clientele. Wide screen TV, Children friendly. Good range of menu . Very much pub grub though. Reasonably priced. Fair range of beer but no real cider sadly. Not really the place for a quiet night out but not bad on the night.
Would I go back? Probably not but there are lots that will.
