“L'Idylle goes Bistro!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We went back once again to L'Idylle Restaurant to find that this year they've gone BISTRO!
The same delectable menu but... wait a minute, it's now much more affordable and laid back. Just the way I like it lol
Chef Charretier knows no boundaries with his talents. The French flair is still there to surprise us at every bite, and his sommelier wife and partner in crime Helene continues to suggest the perfect wine to accompany their "comfort food par excellence".
Well done! Bistro of not, L'Idylle remains one of my all-time favourite places to eat.
See you next year!

my wife and I whenever we return to New Brunswick to visit her family always make a trip to L'ldylle, one of the few places with a truly gastronomic experience in the Maritimes. It is a must for any food lover!!

“Culinary heaven!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We first visited this restaurant 2 summers ago and are today unconditional fans. Emmanuel and Hélène, you ROCK! Very impressed with the menu: we've been to several of Québec's top French restaurants, to compare, and L'Idylle offers the best gastronomy in all of New Brunswick, in our opinion. Chef Emmanuel Charretier is a Master, a true innovator -- and a really friendly chap to boot! We also applaud his dedication to using local produce and products from the Maritimes. Hearing Oohs and Aahs around the room is a common thing and it's quite the challenge trying to figure out the ingredients of each delicacy. Filet mignon with... vanilla sauce? Absolute bliss!

“Truly Excellent”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

We have eaten here twice while visiting Moncton. The food is exquisite, the sommelier/ coowner/ chef's partner is charming and knowledgable. After reading the one bad review here I have to reply that on both occasions this lady told us of the great difficulty she was having getting decent wines for her restaurant. It appears that if NB Alcool doesn't list it they don't order it and she was going through Québec's SAQ which was slow. Regardless the tasting menu is a marvel and they go to great effort to secure local food not just seafood but boar and bison too. Even the plates were from a local potter and the bathroom soap was from a local artist.
It is expensive and we too have wondered how they stay in business but having recently sampled another equally delicious meal in a Moncton restaurant I believe that there are enough travelers and locals with the money and decerning taste to keep L'Idylle around for a long time.
