Primrose cottage is beautiful & the garden is so pretty. We stayed in the family room which was spotlessly clean. The owners are so nice & welcoming & we also were greeted with fresh scones & tea on arrival. It is located in the small village of Lowick, which is 9 miles outside the town of Berwick upon Tweed - very quiet but there are two pubs within minutes. We had a very nice meal at the Black Bull. Would definitely recommend.

There's nothing I can add to the rest of the reviews as they have said it all. This is the best bed and breakfast we have ever been to and my only regret is that it was only for one night. Everything about it says "excellence" and Bob and Irene are the perfect hosts.

We saw this B & B on line before we left Canada - but it was full. When we got to England to visit family, it still stuck in my mind despite after looking at many others, so I tried it again and managed to get a room for our travels into Northumberland area. . It was meant to be as we loved every second and didn't want to go home. We were warmly greeted by Irene with coffee and cake in a spotlessly clean dining area where we chatted and she asked us about our visit. She then showed us up to our room - it was a tad small - 'cos I don't travel light lol - but SO clean and cosy as was the bathroom with its amazing new and modern and lovely skylight window. Next day we toured the amazing Lindisfarne, drove into Bamburg and later went up for nap - on the way Irene handed us a plate of fresh cream scones - which made my day. Irene had also advised us to eat at the The Barn at Beal in the Holy Island which was just wonderful - we sat for 2 hrs over sandwiches, tea and cream cake. Her husband Bob, served breakfast both mornings, which was so good - made to order and with a jug of coffee. Plus he answered all our questions about what to do in the area etc., they couldn't do enough for us - what a friendly pair and so down to earth, we really hit it off with them. I also loved the little shop right next door that did food and sold everything you could want. We wish we had stayed at least another night - maybe next time!

Room Tip: ..If going again, I would definitely book the bigger suite, our room was fine but I pack heavy so ha...

We stayed at Primrose Cottage for three nights while visiting the Farne Islands and the Northumbrian coast. Our stay was excellent throughout. Irene and Bob were really welcoming and friendly. On arrival they sat down for tea and home-made scones with us, chatted with us about our plans for our stay and had really helpful suggestions about the local area and about places to visit and eat, as well as tide times for crossing the causeway to Lindisfarne (very useful!).

Breakfast was lovely and we had a great choice each morning (fruit, cereal, full English breakfasts, continental breakfasts, salmon, fruit juice, teas and coffee) and were able to choose the time we ate – really helpful when leaving early to catch our boat trip to the Farnes.

Irene and Bob were very accommodating of us. As the room we originally requested was booked for one of the nights we were due to stay, they kindly let us stay for three nights in an ensuite bedroom which they usually occupy – with all the comforts of the other rooms – king size bed, flat screen TV, hair drier, kettle, tea, coffee, chocolates.

We found Lowick a really useful place to be situated for visiting the Farne Islands (via boats from Seahouses), Bamburgh, and Lindisfarne, never being more than roughly half an hour’s drive from each.

We really enjoyed our stay at Primrose Cottage, found it excellent value for money and would definitely recommend it.

What a big mistake to only stay one night. We can't say enough good things about this great B&B and Bob and Irene. It's comfortable, it's clean, it's welcoming, it's warm and cosy and you really do get greeted with scones and tea and the breakfast the next morning is great. Best omlette I had in a long time. Lowick is a gorgeous little village and having two pubs in walking distance, which serve good meals, is an extra bonus. You arrive, unpack and can start to relax. We were on our way to Scotland and if there is a next time we know better than to stay only such short time. Coming from the south, we did go along the tourist route, which was longer but well worth it. Sometimes you think, this is too good to be true. It certainly is not the case with Primrose Cottage. Thank you. Uli & William, Australia

Room Tip: We had the twin room which had an extra living room.

Excellent B&B in a beautiful village. We only spent one night there, but Bob & Irene bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast was terrific, and the proximity to local sights such as Bamberg Castle & the Holy Island can't be beat. Highly recommended.
