This cemetery is not original and was recreated when the park next was done. All the graves were moved to the current location and you can realise that all the graves moved were pre 1900.
A favourite of the locals that you will find reading or walking the dogs surely weird and fun.

In correction to the review above, this is the original site of Camperdown Cemetery opened in 1848. Originally the cemetery was 13 acres (it extended from Lennox St all the way down to Federation St. but in the mid-19th-century the Camperdown Memorial Rest Park was created reducing the cemetery down to 4-acres, the sandstone wall was built and all the headstones from the new park area were attached to the wall for safe keeping.

Went on a guided tour recently and was blown away at the history of my local area. Karen Johnson the tour guide, was amazing and informed! Lots of interesting facts really brought to life my local area. I now see the streets I have called home in a new and amazing light..

I love history
This place is just full of it.
Look listen, go on a guided tour, wonderful place right in the middle of hectic Sydney.
A place of peace.
A place of solitude.

A ramshackle cemetery with the most magical Moreton Bay Fig at the entrance. Visitors are welcome to wander daily during daylight hours for free. Lots of locals walk their dogs in here, just walk straight on through behind the church and find your way between the tombstones. As per others' reviews there are some interesting grave sites to visit, to which I will add the following trivia: the cemetery originally took up the surrounding park until the 1940s until local council razed the outer area for the public park. The stones glued to the interior walls are leftover from this heritage disaster.
