Booted to the outer suburbs for a hotel room on a recent business trip to Melbourne, the CBD was fully booked so I found myself in Preston which sounds further away than it really is. This area of Melbourne has become the new Northcote with more bars and restaurants popping up on the two main streets. This hotel was actually quite convenient and well priced.
I booked a last minute room and ended up in an apartment on the 5th floor which had three double beds (all with TVs) and a small living and dining area. It was more than enough for just me but I imagined it'd be perfect for a small family or maybe two couples looking for some cheap accommodation in Melbourne's fringe.
It was very cosy and the bathroom had Sanctum toiletries (Australian organic soaps, shampoo etc and they're really nice!) which was an added surprise. Keep an eye out for this one when you're looking to stay in Melbourne. It's a small fee for the car park and the internet was fairly well priced.More
