“I don't even remember where i stayed this place has 1000's of brands”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2012

All i know is I arrived at Bell City via public transport, and I got a shock to see that Bell City is HUGE!!, it has its own PO so many brands associated with it. I arrived there on the Thurs, I got given a level 5 room which i forgot the number too many times its a maze of 1000's doors, and long corridors, entry is by electronic card. The room is probably the size of a typical 2nd or 3rd bedroom in your average house enough room for a single bed, a wall mounted desk and a combo ensuite. The Room has a opening window with a pleasant view, the window was next to my neighbours window so beaware of private converstations when the window is opened. The room is very basic its got a shallow wash basin sink that ins't deep enough so the water splashes everywhere (and drainage was not the best), daeken aircond, a miniature bar fridge, microwave, 32inch LCD tv with semi Digital channels (not all channels were seen TV is Guest locked), poor analogue reception and some foxtel sports, lifestyle, Nick and footy and the volume is limited on the TV and on foxtel channels, 1 channel was on mute (shows who is paying attention at reception). the Ensuite was a allinone design like on a boat, there are buttons and knobs that can be confused for flushing the toilet and showering. Bed was comfy, sheets were not tucked in properly, noise from next door neighbours, hallway noises, slamming of room doors (sometimes they don't close properly), room maids start servicing the rooms very early at 9am. Modern room, just needed to separate the toilet from the shower from my mind there was no excuse to make the ensuite that small, it could of been made a little bigger so the shower was separated and does not wet the toilet area. for example you must go toilet before you go shower under wise you pants, socks will get wet whilst on the toilet, you practically have to go semi unclothed from the waist down to the toilet as the floor stays wet after a shower (like when you go to the beach shower/toilet block the floor is wet) wear your swimmers or get undressed to go toilet cause any thing touching the floor will get wet, They don't give you enough towels to dry the area only two were given 1 small towel and 1 body towel. Car park could be better lit at night for the price you pay, and its not free (paid). Close to Tram 86 Waterfront City/Bundoora(5mins walk), 16 mins walk to Bell Railway station, Bus to Glenroy 513 outside gate, bus to 903 Altona\Essendon Station 12 minutes walk towards Mcdonalds (past Bell Railway station) stay on Bell St.
Finally Bell City has map of on the wall at Recepo of the local area, Bell City has many brands i think i was staying at Sleep n Go, but it may be Le Student 8 or Budget1hotel. You will see in the images that there is a bit of confusion Recepo told me I was in the Budget1 area but its all a mixed building of different grades of rooms. I may stay again its kinda out of the way from Melbourne city around a 30min tram trip full of constant stopping and starting.

Room Tip: beaware of the multi brands this place uses, Sleep and go, Budget1, LeStudent8, Lux, Rydges etc... e...

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

I stayed at the Sleep & Go as part of an onsite work conference. First impressions of my very spacious twin room on the 6th floor were favourable, with huge panoramic views of the city in the distance, two desks, big tv and a modern and clean appearance. The bathroom was basic, but the shower decently strong. On the first night the ziploc bag of amenities lacked body wash, but a larger bag including this, plus body lotion, was provided on the second night even though I made no mention to staff.

My major complaint was the bedding. I found the mattresses and pillows far too soft and ended up not sleeping well at all. Pressing the controls of the airconditioner appeared to make no difference and I found the room too cold - not normally an issue for me. The supplied blankets were very thin. Not helping with sleep was light entering the room from the edges of the pull down blinds, nor the early morning construction work nearby. There was also a small pool of water at the bottom of one window sill.

Most of my colleagues complained of a poor sleep - though one said their bed was too hard!

The front desk staff were invariably friendly and helpful, providing advice and change for transport. Apart from the onsite restaurants and post office there are no facilities nearby. However, it's only a short walk to a tram ride to more interesting dining areas. The train station isn't too far and would probably be faster for a trip into the city centre.

It's a pity that the beds spoiled what would otherwise be a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Upper floors on the city side have good views.

Dear allrite
Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We are happy to hear that the room was nice and you enjoyed the views. It's a pity that the beds were not to your likings. I have also addressed the issue with the air con unit. It is feedback like this that allows us to move forward and improve our product. We thank you once again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Kind regards

Stayed overnight at Sleep and Go last week and found that it was a pleasure. It is handy if you dont want to be in the city or if you are wanting an early start on your way north as it is only 10 minutes straight run to the Hume Highway.
The rooms are very clean and well catered for. I took a single and whilst the room was small it was very good value compared to what there is around. It is a 10 minute walk to the cafe strip in Preston but there are numerous choices, and good if you are on a budget.
Overall I would stay there again and can recommend.

We stayed at the Rydges part of Bell City complex last visit in January. Great visit, but our budget didn't stretch that far this time. So opted for 'cheap'. WOW, what a pleasant surprise. Desk staff extremely helpful. Rooms ideal. Compact, but everything we needed.$116 per night for queen. Close to tram into cdb. (30 mins ride time) pool, cafes, bars, laundry, gym, etc etc. Only poss downside is to make sure if you come mid summer to ask for a room with as little direct sunlight!! We had a 39c day & morning sun. You could not touch the windows! Not double glazed, & wtint absorbs the heat. Airconditioners worked pretty well to cope with it though. Not a criticism, just a suggestion!

We wanted a clean and comfortable hotel and the Sleep and Go fit the bill.

We paid ~$100 per night and got more than we needed - quiet room, king size bed, clean bathroom, modern furnishings, refrigerator, flat-screen tv, internet access (extra charge - $10/24 hrs), coffee/tea facilities, a fabulous view, and free street parking.

There were some stains on the carpet in the hallways, but overall is was clean and well-kept.

Very happy with stay and would definitely stay again!

Note: We stayed in the 'Sleep & Go' room and not the 'Sleep & Go Budget' room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the CBD

we booked a $100 a night special and were worried by the bad reviews - no need!
Our room was a hotel room with ensuite, and floor to ceiling windows that you could open to get a breeze. The view was lovely, over the pool, and suburbs to mountains.
The bed was king size - which was a wonderful surprise; and the room had a good TV, fridge and cupboards & drawers.
It also had a great curved corner shower - i love those things! - makes me feel like i'm in a space ship.

Only bugbear would be that the rooms were made up very late in the day (3-4pm), and twice we were trying to have an afternoon nap when 'housekeeping' called to make up the room.

This isn't a huge issue, and we really were left wondering what did we miss out on when compared to a hotel suite next door at Rydges?? apart from not getting a morning paper, our experience was really the same, and for 2/3 the price.

My Partner and i stayed at Sleep & Go for the Grand Final weekend and we made last minute bookings this was the only reasonable priced hotel that we can find in such short notice. but we enjoyed every minute of it. The service was excellent as soon as we walked through they were all very helpful. The rooms were small but it was just what we needed for the weekend and the view was great though. The location of the Hotel was perfect we walked to the train station and was only a 2 min drive to the nearest shopping centre. We ate at both restaurants that they provided DJ's which was downstairs from Sleep & Go great food and very nice view of the pool very relaxed and comfortable for dinner and buffet breakfast. Chill bar which was a part of the Rydes was very fancy the service was absolutly amazing and the food was great inc buffet breakfast Chill was more quiet. i would stay there again long term or short term.
