“Well preserved castle”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

Kerak was a rest stop on our long drive from Petra to Madaba. There is a 1 JOD entrance fee. It’s not set up to be self guided but a good guide book will be fine. I did see some guides for hire but did not ask their fee. I spent an hour exploring the well preserved castle and the small museum. A wothwhile stop if you're travelling on the King's Highway.

“Unmissable Karak Castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

A must-see,after Jerash,Ajloun and Petra.I had the huge castle almost to myself on a glorious hot January afternoon;allow yourself several hours to absorb the views, the awe-inspiring 'hidden' entrance, the seven levels of great stone chambers(often with only natural light filtering in)and crumbilg ramparts;the museum;take a snack of local delicacies with you to eat up on one of the top courtyards amidst the shattered superstructure.Afterwards, roam the paths and local roads that surround the castle and its tremendous restored glacis.

“History fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

Although the castle is not as impressive as some in Europe it was quite amazing to be apart of the Crusader history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and his English was quite superb. The surrounding streets are a nice place to wander and have some lunch. As with everything in Jordan, it was difficult to navigate around once off the main road but worth the effort.
