We have just returned from a weeks holiday at village farm. It was a fantastic place for large familys, because there were 18 of us we decided to book 3 of the Chalets and we were not disappointed The leisure facility's were great , Swimming, Gym, Jacuzzi steam room and sauna to mention but a few of the luxury to be found here.
This place is an excellent base to explore the Northumbria coastline
We hope to return again as there are very few places that could cater for such a large family..

Room Tip: The Cedar chalet is great if you have young children as it overlooks the games area.

We spent an excellent week in a cozy, clean and comfortable cottage. The cottage was ideal for us with good facilities and, best of all, the dog could stay too - I have to say, though, that although pets were allowed there was no sign of previous dogs. Our boys particularly liked the facilities - excellent pool and gym complex, and an amazing play area for sports (football, tennis, and golf and cricket nets) along with an indoor games room which had a pool table and table tennis table. Overall it was excellent and an ideal place for us. Northumberland was great with so much to see and do outdoors and we loved our week.

Wool Cottage is a short walk from the main facilities provided by Village Farm, so it enjoys a quieter atmosphere than the properties overlooking the games and sports areas.
Tennis court is great and well kept, and the games room has pool and table tennis. My son used the gym every day, and we all enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub.
I'd expect those holidaying with young children would prefer to be closer to the main site, but for us the 6-7 minute walk was no problem.
Shilbottle is well placed for seeing most of Northumberland. Only a few miles from Alnwick and the A1, and an easy five miles from the beautiful castle and town of Warkworth.
We visited Rothbury, Morpeth, Belsay, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh, all less than an hour away from the cottage.
The cottage is very well decorated and furnished. Kitchen is a good size and is well equipped. The bathroom is nicely presented and has a good shower.
Living room is spacious and has room to relax. Sky TV and free wifi provide additional convenience.
Parking is tight, and two cars could be problematic, but there is ample space on the lane in front of the cottage.

Not long back from another fabulous stay in Kielder Chalet at Village Farm - it's a perfect setting only a few miles from Alnwick and within easy reach of all the fabulous attractions in the area, the gorgeous beach at Alnmouth, spectacular beauty of the Holy Isle and the broomstick lessons at Alnwick Castle. The chalet is a great size for a family of four, has everything you could ever need, and our girls loved living so close to the pool and games room. The facilities on site are fab and the owners are so helpful. We honestly wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when we're visiting the area.

This was my first time in Northumberland and what a lovely first experience. I stayed at Farriers View with my 2 boys and my parents. This house has been recently renovated to an extremely high standard and had absolutely everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and an ensuite bath/shower room attached to each room was an added bonus. The facilities were fantastic and we made good use of the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym. My sister and her family stayed nearby at Viewfield which was a one minute shortcut across the field - another lovely house with excellent views. Village Farm is perfectly located and it was easy to get to nearby houses, castles and beaches - and we also had a fantastic day trip to Hadrians Wall. There is so much to see and do in Northumberland that we will definitely need to come back and we will certainly come back to Village Farm. Highly recommended.
