Just got back from birdsong cottage after staying the weekend it was a lovely and relaxing place to stay with all your needs catered for. When we arrived we were greeted by coco who showed us to our room swallows rest which was fantastic with soft pillows and a very comfortable bed slept well both nights and so did my partner. We were asked what we wanted for breakfast and we chose the bacon stottie which came with juice and yoghurt with granola which was delicious.
We went to celebrate our recent engagement had a lovely time and would go again forgot to mention the jacuzzi bath which we used it was lovely when you put in the bath oils provided. All in all a lovely place to stay and was only a short trip to holy island. Feel rejuvenated and chilled.

We have just got back from a week's wonderful holiday staying at Birdsong Cottage where Amanda and Gary provided us with a most relaxing time. Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfasts were delicious and we felt like part of the family. As we stayed for a week Amanda upgraded us to The Haven for our last two nights. We didn't think it could get any better but Haven was amazing with the hot tub outside and all the extra touches added for our relaxation. Thank you Amanda and Gary for being so kind and welcoming, not forgetting Sidney the puglet who we loved. This was our second stay at Birdsong Cottage and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Northumberland. Thanks again for everything, Janet and Pete x

Room Tip: Both rooms are wonderful but Haven has the added extra of the hot tub.

I booked Birdsong last minute for my partner's birthday and it couldn't have turned out any better.

Straight of the A1, after a little trouble finding the cottage we drove up the narrow track to the beautiful quaint building, where we were met at the door by a very helpful fellow (Gary?) and his lovely Pug.

The room (Haven): decorated to the highest standard with an impressive bed, posh Nespresso coffee machine, minibar filled with snacks and tipples, hidden love heart sweets, any extras we may need (paracetamol, hair dryer/straighteners, toiletries, etc), beautiful en-suite wet room, etc. Very luxurious however constantly holding it's warm, honest, relaxing appeal.

We were then lead through the patio doors onto a private balcony comprising of a table and chairs set and a bench wrapping around the 2 seater hot tub. Surrounded by fields and a few allotments holding ducks and chickens (which for me were a positive surprise), after running through the lighting and hot tub settings we were left on our own.

Relaxing is the easiest thing to do at Birdsong Cottage, we manage to pass an hour just sitting with coffee and chatting. However, only staying the night, we managed to motivate ourselves to head into Alnwick (10 minutes by car, £13 taxi).

On arriving back at the cottage we decided to slip into the hot tub - this was the icing on the cake. Gary advised us that the temperature it was set to (39 celcius?) was perfect for the Northumbrian night time and he wasn't wrong. Combined with the impressive lighting system - utter relaxation.

We woke up around 9am and, after both agreeing it was the best night's sleep we had in a long time, I insisted on laying in bed for a while. Expectedly, the door knocked and when I opened looking back at me was a very appetising breakfast. Pulling the tray onto laps, we noticed the bacon stottie had cocktail sticks with Haribo love hearts on the ends (very nice touch).

We spoke to Amanda on leaving, who was an absolute joy to meet, before reluctantly walking to the car and heading into Alnwick before home.

I would happily recommend this B&B to anyone, especially those looking for a little R&R or for birthdays/anniversaries.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Birdsong Cottage and it was amazing. I booked it as a surprise for my husband's birthday and staying at Birdsong made it perfect. We stayed in the Haven room and its even more beautiful than all the pictures I had seen. We arrived late afternoon on Friday and Amanda had the hot tub and our chilled champagne and chocolates ready for us. Breakfast was lovely every day and the whole experience was brilliant. We would definitely recommend it to anyone.
