A quaint old cottage with a traditional interior that one would expect for its age. Our family of 5 adults (+1 dog) stayed here for a week in mid-June 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are a seasoned 'cottage rental' family and believe its 4 star rating, compared to others we have used, is about right but no higher. Car parking wasn't an issue as we were informed before booking that we'd need to park on the road, a quiet road close to the village green. Access to the garage for other than bike storage is not an option due to shared access/ownership with the neighbour. The seating in the main (TV) room was a little uncomfortable after a time and we suggest the owner considers upgrading to something more fitting with the room's character. Or perhaps move the TV into the other room where the seating is far more comfortable and welcoming. Cottage is dog friendly and the back garden is reasonably secure.
One word of warning....the staircase is very steep with a 90' turn at the top and may not suit the less mobile or infirm guest. Going up wasn't an issue but coming down for a 6 foot person with big feet was interesting.
There's a pub across the road for good food and real ale (The Old Red Lion) but book a table early if you intend going on a weekend evening.

Absoluteley superb cottage.
Beautiful comfortable lounges and excellent kitchen/diner.
To use the term "fully equipped" does not do justice to this cottage. The kitchen really does have everything that you could want.
Lots of extra touches such as loo rolls, tea cloths, dishwasher tablets..we could go on!
As other reviewers have noted, the stairs are steep and winding (as you might expect in an old cottage) but we are both around 70 and had no problems.
An added bonus for us was that the garden is secure for our small dog and we could let her out without worrying.
It is easily the best cottage that we have ever stayed in and thoroughly reccommended.
Excellent pub (Olde Red Lion) a short stroll over the village green.

The location and cottage is fantastic, great for a long weekend away like we did, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cottage was very clean and tidy and had no issues with the house itself which is why the score is unaffected.
My problems were with letting agent and owner in the form of contact. We returned the signed documents as requested, but had to chase them up and send to a separate address to ensure they had it before getting the key code. Then after paying by Paypal originally, my deposit was returned by cheque in the post but had not even been signed. I then left then tried ringing the owner and left them a message but they never replied so I had to chase the agent about wanting a refund through Paypal as getting to a bank is awkward for me. I was told they would ask the owner, but never replied and on chasing the matter again I was told they had posted another cheque and appeared they had not even asked the owner about refunding with Paypal.
Very minor problems I am sure you would agree, hence it not effecting my recommendation of the cottage or score and I would stay there again. However, I just felt a little drained on return on trying to sort out the deposit issue.
This is a charming cottage with plenty of space for our family of two adults, 2 children and a dog.
The village is small but has two pubs that provide a wide range of food, both very welcoming. The green hosts the largest may pole I have seen, Stunning. Tesco’s and a selection of take-aways are a few mins away by car.
Everything in the cottage is well stocked, and the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality. The beds are amazingly comfortable, and we slept really well.
It is everything you imagine an English cottage to be. Warm and welcoming with, steep twisting stairs, low beamed ceilings, old wooden latched doors and log fires, Plus a few hidden extras like a large bathroom, down stairs toilet and a small sauna. The garden is secluded and well maintained, great for summer BBQs.
There are signs of damp by the fire place, but the cottage feels dry, and a few dusty corners, but these are very minor points and did not spoil our stay.
This is a great find! We booked a return trip as soon as we arrived home. I think this says everything!

Stayed in White Horse Cottage for 2 days last week for a pre christmas break with family,The cottage is large and comfortable with a peaceful homely feeling. It is set in a stunning little village (Wellow) and also has every amenity you could possibly ask for. There are 2 pubs across the road and Sherwood forest and Nottingham a short drive away.A place where you really feel you would love to go back to.

The Cottage is very clean and homely.
The kitchen/diner is large and has everything you need for a self catering stay, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
It has two sitting rooms one with a log burner, sofas,TV and DVD player with plenty of DVD,s to choose from. The second sitting room has an open fire, sofas and a DAB radio with a good selection of books to read,
The downstairs bathroom has also got a sauna in it which worked really well.
The three bedrooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable.
Upstairs bathroom has a shower and free standing bath and toilet.
We stayed in October and needed the heating on and it was so efficient the whole cottage was lovely and warm.
We would certainly recommend this cottage, and the Old Red Lion just across the road who make you feel so welcome.

I stayed here this weekend with 5 other girls as a surprise getaway for my best friends hen party. I could not have found a better place, was so beautiful!
We blind folded my friend as she got out the car and was greeted by a neighbour walking her dog, she heard my friends worry in her voice as she said where are we? (Still with her blind fold on) The lady answered and said don't worry your in a beautiful place, and she was right!
The cottage itself is gorgeous, very spacious as cottages go. We had perfect weather and enjoyed sitting in the beautiful sun in the garden.
The owners had thought of everything we had wanted in a girly weekend stay, there was DVDs, games, sauna! The Kitchen had everything we needed! Coffee/tea and dishwasher so I didn't have to do my usual chores!
We had a great day out at Sherwood Forest on an adrenaline activity day with was 10 mins down the road! And had the best meal of the year at the pub opposite called "olde red lion". The staff were extremely friendly unlike the other pub on the green.
Overall this was the perfect place and I cannot wait to return when I'm that way again!!
