“Minimalist room, good lobby and location”
Reviewed October 11, 2010

The breakfast was good. The lobby was pleasant and gave us plenty of space to sit and relax. There was a computer in the lobby that we could use for email (though I recall that we paid 1 TL for a 1/2 hour of use).

The inside of the hotel is attractive, but our room was small and bare, with nothing to decorate the walls and nothing to put our suitcases on. The room was clean and reasonably quiet.

If you just want a place to sleep at a very affordable rate, the Crowded House is a reasonable choice. But, don't plan to spend a lot of time enjoying your room.

Just in case your'e wondering this hotel is named after the eponymous trans-Tasman Band - an appropriate marketing strategy to attract us Anzacs.
I recently stayed here with my elderly father and brother. In summary:-
1. The rooms are small and basic but clean and modern.
2. The staff are very helpful and found us an excellent local but clear English-speaking Gallipoli battlefield guide.
3. The bar is convenient but not quite as cheap as other Turkey bars.
4. Breakfasts are adequate with the usual ingredients plus cereal supplied (cereal is not standard for Turkey as we found out later when we stayed at other places).
5. The location is about as close as you can get to the battlefields and provides a 45 minute jump on those who stay at Cannakale. We left for the battlefields at 8am and were always ahead of the crowds.
6. I don't think that free wi-fi was available here (editor: please delete this point if I'm incorrect).
7. Car parking is tight but we found a free space within 50 meters of the hotel entrance.
8. The hotel is difficult to find by car. We phoned their number after doing a couple of laps of the town and a staffer met us at a nearby intersection. Hopefully the attached photo may assist orientation.
Surprisingly for a small town, there are many cheap places in Eceabat to eat so we didn't try their dining room.
Overall, I recommend this hotel as good value for money but certainly not 5-star.

Great clean hostel, modern basic rooms, excellent snorkelling and Gallipoli tours, breakfast was good too. Staff were always willing to help, not much to see or do in Eceabat however suited us perfectly as we arrived late in the evening and left on night bus heading South after tour finished.

We loved our stay here. The rooms are simple but clean and although Eceabat is short on atmosphere it is undoubted;y the best launching pad for the battlefields. Skip their recommended restaurany though - there is a kebab and pide place that's just around the corner that is much better. Zia gave us a fantastic private tour of the battlefields in the morning which was so informative and moving. We were also able to keep ahead of the tour buses. Highly recommend Crowded House.

Were met at the ferry by the owner Pauly which was unexpected and it just got better from there even to helping us with our next stay. Just the best and lovely and clean. The private tour Pauly found for us was fantastic so our total stay here was all positive ...thankyou Pauly.

The Crowded House Hotel in Eceabat hosted five of us for one night as we drove from Izmir to Istanbul. The greeting was friendly, the beer cold, the rooms clean and comfortable and before we could ask about touring Gallipoli, we had a tour guide, Bulent Korkmaz, organised for the next morning. The Crowded House owner said he would be excellent and he was terrific, very well informed, clear and good value. He paced the battlefields visit perfectly. The hotel also recommended a local eatery which was great value and provided a delicious meal, but the really five star service occurred when I left my favourite pair of pants in the hotel room and emailed a hopeful request to see if they could posted on. No problem - they were delivered to our hotel in Istanbul the next day by Ziya Artam who was up to attend the U2 concert. We were really, really impressed and would recommend Crowded House to anyone travelling in the region. Service in Turkey has been great all round on this trip, but this was the highlight.

We stayed here for a night while exploring the area. We arrived on the ferry and could see the hotel from the dock as it was so central. The hotel is modern and nicely decorated. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms were great - ours with a nice view of the Dardanelles.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was a lovely spread of bread, cheeses and spreads, salad stuff, eggs etc.
Parking wasn't a problem and the hotel is in easy walking distance of restaurants and cafes. Guides of the area can also be arranged from the hotel and come highly recommended by other travellers.
