A second visit to this gem of a hotel - this time bringing friends.
Everything you could need - beautiful scenery & stunning walks. Lots of history & things to see & learn about.
At the end of the day a delicious meal & a beer watching the sun set. What more could you ask for !!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights B&B + evening meal in early April. We travelled up from Fethiye by car and arrived at this tranquil hotel nestling above the local village. Eric his wife and staff made us most welcome. Our accommodation was in a row of cottage style lodges within the grounds of the main house. Breakfast and evening meals were provided inside the main building where the main lounge and dining area is situated. A computer is available for use by residents in the lounge area.
Eric is a mastermind not just about the Gallipoli campaign but his knowledge of the area. He was always available at breakfast or evening dinner time to offer his advice on whatever the guest residents required eg. walking or car routes within the national park area, museums etc, etc. He was always interested to know about his guests and there main purpose of the visit, so that he could offer his extensive knowledge to them.
His wife Ozlem and staff provided quality food and service at meal times and kept the rooms clean and tidy.
All in all, a great place to stay in an area that hosted one of mankinds great tragedies.

The scrubby heights of Gun Ridge dominate the view from the terrace opening out from the Kocadere Room. A large room with a delightful outlook, comfy bed, couch, acres of room. Furnishings are top notch, the exposed wooden beams add rustic style, the decorations themed to the old battlefields. And a friendly ginger cat, though the last is apparently a shared resource.

There is no better place to stay for the Anzac battlefield explorer. Clean, comfortable, convenient. It is a few minutes drive to Anzac Cove, but off the direct route so there are no crowds of tourists and their tourbuses. The village is tiny - only 35 residents including muezzin, who adds his voice to those of dogs, sheep, roosters and songbirds.

The host, Eric, runs a tight ship. His crew are marvels - friendly and obliging without being obsequious. He knows everything there is to know about Gallipoli, both the history and the area. Listen well to him; he goes back to the original sources, whether it is some arcane bit of military lore, or the menu at the local pancake restaurant.

What I like best is his desire to see his guests happy. He asks what guests want to see and then provides the resources and the inside tips. Maps, guidebooks, walking notes - you name it. He goes beyond what is expected and gives that special information only somebody deeply immersed in his subject could provide.

His wife, Ozlem, is the cook, and what a cook! Her kitchen serves up local dishes, tailored to meet guest quirks such as vegetarianism if need be, and every bite is sublime. Lentil soup - a dish that lis not normally a source of ecstasy - mopped up with crusty local bread. Total yum. And on it goes. Not big portions, but perfect.

The same may be said for the establishment. Not big, but perfect. Perfectly in keeping with the environment, the house is not too large. The group having a pre-dinner drink around the fireplace may exchange their tales without having to shout. Eric stands by the fire, answering questions, talking history, talking philosophy.

Parking is limited, and if there are more than three vehicles at the front gate, go around to the back, where there is room for five more. There is a small book swapshelf beside the free internet computer. The many displays of historical artifacts, maps, photographs etc are augmented by the collection beside the dining room lavatories. Just turn on the light and there is a whole corridor full of things. The terrace upstairs is open to all, and is the perfect place to sit and watch the sun set over the Aegean.

Thank you, Eric and Ozlem, for the perfect stay. Your care and forethought shines through in every detail.

Room Tip: The Kocadere room has its own elevated terrace. Lean over the parapet and you are part of the villag...

We stayed for two very enjoyable nights. Eric and Oxlem are friendly, welcoming and gracious hosts and we enjoyed their company. Eric's interest in and knowledge of the Peninsula is very useful. He has a great sense of humor (particularly suits Kiwis and Aussies!) The room was simply and tastefully decorated and very clean. It was warm and cosy in the inclement spring weather and had places to sit and relax, as well as enjoy the view. The village is very authentic and rural and some beautiful scenes can be enjoyed from the balcony. Breakfast is a hearty meal of continental offerings (meat, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruit, preserves) and you can also opt for fried eggs and Turkish sausage. The coffee is delicious! We ate at the hotel both nights and the meal was home-cooked and very delicious. The servings are comfortable and the different courses complement one another well. They offer a fully stocked bar as well. Eric's directions to get there by car from Istanbul were excellent and the hotel suited us perfectly as the type of genuine, down to earth and welcoming place we like to stay in.

Located just 3 kms from the area of the Anzac landings this is THE place to stay on Gallipoli. Situated in a quite village this is really a brilliant place to stay. Run by Eric [ formerly an international conference organiser which explains his six languages ] and Ozlem, his Turkish wife, this is a simple but very comfortable cross between superior bed and breakfast and a boutique hotel. One gets the feeling that Eric has created this hotel from his experiences of "international" hotels thus knowing how not to run a hotel and so it has the feeling of really staying in someone's rather extended house rather than in a face-less mill bed "factory"

Ozlem's cooking is a really great way to find out about Turkish cooking and she uses local herbs and ingredients [ they have their own olive grove ] wherever possible. Be warned though, there are no meals on Sat or Sun night but there is a terrific fish restaurant in Eceabat, about 5 miles away.

Eric is enthusiastically knowledgeable about the Gallipoli campaign and knows many unknown places to visit so he really can help people who want to make the most of their visit.

What not to like? - the taped meuzzin calling the Faithful to prayers but really it all adds to the character of the place.

Brilliant and cannot wait to get back again.

Room Tip: As for the "ambassadors" room.

This place is a gem! It's the sort of place you'd want to stay at even if it wasn't perfectly located smack bang in the middle of the Gallipoli National Park making it the ideal base for exploring the area. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, the lounge/dining room beautifully decorated and the food is outstanding with a breakfast spread you can't jump over! And then you add owner Eric to the mix with his unlimited knowledge & enthusiasm for all things Gallipoli. Our stay was way too short so we hope to return and there will be no question about where we will stay!

We had checked out all the accommodation options near to Gallipoli and Gallipoli Houses seemed head and shoulders in front of everything else. We had phoned from Australia a few months earlier to check availability on our dates but the Houses were full. Eric asked us to send an email so he could get back to us should a cancellation occur. Luckily for us a room became available on our dates and a deposit was made. Everything about our booking was very simple, helpful and efficient. When comparing prices don't forget that Gallipoli Houses includes a 3 course evening meal in its rates. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice patio from which to watch the sunset. Eric provided us with advice, suggested walks, maps and a guide book so we could make the most of our 1 full day visit to Anzac Cove, the battle fields, and the beautifully kept cemeteries - a very moving experience. Our 2 nights and evenings at GH were an absolute pleasure and our hosts a delight. Highly recommended.
