“1st Time at Madhu's”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

This was our 2nd year staying in Agonda but the first time we'd stayed at madhu's beach huts. The refurbished beach huts were very spacious, with a huge (6x6) comfy bed complete with mosquito net there was also a lockable cupboard and shelves , the bathroom was clean no hot water, but its not needed, one way window was good for privacy and also good for watching the sunset in the evening. Shekhar and his staff made us feel most welcome and couldn't do enough. We ate there 3 times a day for 7 nights and the food was excellent Shekhar also added Kingfisher Strong to his drinks menu espacialy for us. We were told of other improvements planned for end of 2013 solar/hot water. We will be definitley be going back. Well done to all the staff at Madhus Beach Huts

We stayed in one of the two huts that didn't have sea views, which was fine however they are very basic and are cheaper than the luxury huts at the front. The service was really good, and the food in the restaurant is awesome, we barely ate anywhere else. Agonda Beach is beautiful and so much nicer than Palolem Beach, less people, fewer shops and way quieter. Mostly families and older travellers, not really a party place. Will definitely be staying at Madhu when we come back to Agonda.

Yet another stay with Shekhar in his wonderful huts which are now more like mini mansions. Like to go for a couple of nights every year and every year he surprises us. Ate in his restaraunt both nights and can highly recommend his food.
Was impressed that the matresses were brand new and everything so clean it made for a happy time with a couple of friends

Room Tip: ask for beach front as there are a couple behind which wouldnt quite be the same

We have been to Madhu huts quite a few times and every time Shekar has improved the huts and the facilities, it just gets better and better. In short the beds were comfortable with mosquito nets, place was immaculate, cupboard and shelf, plus hooks for clothes, shower/toilet/handbasin all clean and tidy, basin of water at the front of the hut for you to wash your feet which stopped the sand getting inside. Beach was quiet as usual, wonderful to walk out of the huts onto the beach and maybe see dolphins, go on a boat trip or a walk along the beach or just collapse on a sun bed and read a book, The food was great, also as usual. You get a great welcome and Shekar and the boys always look after you well, nothing seems to be too much trouble. Cannot wait to return.

hi londoncouple
i am shekhar at madhucoconut huts want to first clarify that we had closed last season all our huts and dismantled by 20th of april 2012. you are saying that you stayed may 2012. so it difficult to digest this review with clinical review point. as born and brought up in agonda we always close our premises by end of april and some people close end of march or first week of april. and regarding you refurbish point i didn't refurbish the huts last seaon but only this season oct 2012 -13 you can see my latest picture on face book madhu huts. one reason we close last season so early is my brother is part of agonda village council and last may were the election and as by law there is ban on supply or selling alcohol i have to close my business earlier. so my dear london couple from where you got notorious idea of writing a review saying you stay at may 2012. one thing i want to add that the tripadvisor travel forum has listed agonda as number two beach in asia and number one in india. and to preserve this beach such way some of the policies were framed by my brother along with agonda council . i have humility too accept good positive reviews with negative reviews but they should be written in good taste. from shekhar pagi owner

This is the second time we have stayed at Madhu's huts and we are already considering another trip. Agonda beach is a haven for those wanting to relax in the sun on a quiet beach away from the crowds of Northern Goa or neighbouring Palolem. There are plenty of huts to choose from in Agonda but only a few of the nicer hut have a beach front location, Madhu's has a clear advantage over many. Don't be fooled by some clever photography on other websites! Some of the neighbouring huts, Agonda White Sands, Chattai, Jardin Mer etc all have lovely chilled out area's with drapes, big cushions and are great places to eat, drink & generally chill out but their huts are behind the bar / restaurant area and are set back off the beach. Why opt for a beach hut and then settle for one behind the restaurant ??
The staff at Madhu's are friendly but their English is a little limited, although we didn't have any problems ordering or having a laugh with them towards the end of our stay. Shekhar (the owner) is also very friendly and always made the effort to learn your name, say hello and check that the Madhu boys are delivering good customer service. Nothing is too much for Shekhar, our hut didn't have a washing line when we arrived so I asked if we could have some string, a few minutes later I noticed a couple of the boys were busy back at our hut erecting a line for us. The same can be said for when we bought a ball to play with on the beach, a couple of minutes after we had bought it the boys were on the beach putting up a volleyball net ! I think this gave them an excuse to have a game some evenings when the temperature had dropped.
The food at Madhu's is also first class, Shekhar has recently invested in a coffee machine and now serves very good cappuccino's, espresso's etc throughout the day. This is probably the only real coffee in Agonda and many people during our stay made the trip to Madhu's just for this.
Shekhar and the team are very welcoming and are open to suggestions on improving the huts to meet tourists needs, they have recently made large sofa area's at the front of the bar area and are more than happy to let you play your own iPod.
This is a great set up, the huts have proper mattresses unlike may others huts and Shekar has now invested in hot electric showers. (All have electricity, flushing WC, mirror and bedside table, shelves etc) They can only be described as basic but they have the essentials and most importantly a fantastic location.
Great team, great location and a place I am sure we will visit time and time again

Shekhars' email address shekhar1303@sify.com ~~~~~~ they can also arrange a transfer from the airport no matter what time you arrive and will happily stop at a cash point so that you don't have to worry about the money exchange in the airport. Its around 1000 rupees but the taxi's outside the airport will try to charge you more.

Room Tip: Madhu's do have a few cheaper huts behind those which are sea facing. Please make sure you chec...

We stayed at Madhu for the first week of our holiday in Goa, and couldn't have asked for anything more! We had one of the front huts (the orange one on the end!) and it was wonderful to be able to get out of bed in the morning, walk out of the front door and be on the beach. The bed was HUGE and had a mosquito net, there were also cupboards and shelving for storage (although we mainly lived out of our case!), and the shower/wet room with toilet was clean and had hot water. Shekhar, Tipu and their staff were all wonderful, friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. The food in the restaurant was great, and on our friends' last night we'd asked Shekhar for lobster - he ended up getting us one each and it was the best, freshest (and probably cheapest!) lobster I've ever tasted.

One morning we were having a swim in the sea and to our surprise a dolphin jumped and swam past us - it was magical! All in all, Agonda is a truly beautiful place, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else but Madhu.

Room Tip: The 5 front huts have the best view, and hot water, but there are also 3 slightly cheaper huts behin...
