“The best place we stayed in India!!!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

I really can't explain how amazing this place was. I would give it 10 stars, but can't. It's worth more than 5! We felt so relaxed and Binesh the owner is so chilled out and makes you feel at home. Our hut was perfect with all the basic essentials. The restaurant cooks the nicest food we have ever had - not just in India, but in forever! It is all so reasonable and tastes amazing. Agonda beach is beautiful and has hardly seen tourists. The water is clean and warm with huge waves!

We never even paid for anything until the end of our stay, food, drinks everything. I don't know how they remember who has had what but it was such a nice touch and we felt so relaxed that we could just walk to the fridge or order what we liked when we liked. We would certainly return here for a longer visit. Only problem was we only stayed 2 nights!!

Only negative (nothing that can be changed though!) was the really noisy crows at 4am overhead. In the hut you can hear everything - we would consider a room next time!

We went into our three night stay at Simrose with relatively low expectations due to the cost, but our experience was excellent. To enjoy a place like Simrose, you have to understand what "beach hut" vacationing is about...it's very simple and rustic, but if you like that kind of experience, Simrose has got to be on of the best options in Goa. Agonda beach is beautiful - quiet, no crowds, beautiful sand and nice waves for the kids. The village leading up to Simrose is quaint and makes for nice afternoon walk. The food, beverages and services are very good, but remember, the pace of life and overall style is very laid back. Only tip...Simrose, like most other places of its kind, are cash only! I didn't think that they communicated this point very well. Especially with cost in mind, Goa/Simrose was one of the best family vacations we've ever had.

Room Tip: the huts facing the water have nice views, but you may be bothered by the sound at night from people...

Spent a week here in early December and had a wonderful time. It's the ideal chilled out beach location with nice and simple beachfront huts, great food, yoga and a great all-round vibe. This is especially due to the incredibly friendly staff who made a real difference. Binesh, Dinesh, Ajit and friends are very welcoming, attentive, and will do whatever they can to make your stay a happy one. I'd definitely stay there again, it really was the perfect beach holiday.

We (a swiss couple) planned to stay some days here and ended up staying almost 2 weeks at Simrose. We've checked quite a lot of different guesthouses at the beach before we decided to stay in Simrose. Here are the reasons why (from our point of view):
- Unbeatable atmosphere (stylish, relaxing and very friendly at the same time)
- Very good restaurant with attentive staff
- Lovely huts (with hot water) in a green surrounding - at the front of the beach
- Professional Yoga classes (done by Alex & Alex) right in the "heart" of the garden
- Reasonable prices - even in peak season

All in all highly recommended!

This was my second trip to Agonda, and my first staying in Simrose although I had eaten and enjoyed the food there before.
The huts are very nice, elevated a little from the ground which makes the sit out or veranda which each hut comes with a nice place to sit. Shady and furnished with a floor pad, squashy cushions, a low table and a nice lampshade. The beds were comfortable but that was at the start of the season and I suspect the foam mattresses get a bit thinner as the season progresses. There are some shelves to put clothes and personal items and a mosquito net. The windows are unglazed with shutters, the fan works well. The lock to the door of the hut didn't work (at least I couldn't get it to work) but were were given a padlock to use instead which solved the issue. I can't really wax lyrical about the huts because there's not much to say, clean, not too cramped, lots of ventilation about sums up what I'm looking for in a beach hut and Simrose ticked all the boxes.

Simrose has rooms too which boast the luxury of a real wardrobe with doors and hangers and everything! They might lack the exotic charms of a hut and be slightly away from the central garden area but they are really very nice and might suit people who want more solid walls around them.

Where Simrose really beats a lot of the other huts in the public areas. There are cabanas, pergolas, elevated sit outs call them what you will but snag one early in the morning and make it your home. Low tables, massive squashy pillows, shade, breeze and the Simrose menu to choose from, some books to borrow in case you've forgotten your own. An electric socket for recharging phones, plugging laptops into and a lamp for when the light fades. Give me a blanket and i could happy book into one of the lounging areas for a week.

Simrose gets a wide range of visitors from families, singles, friends groups, honeymoon couples, backpackers and old marrieds. It's got a lovely friendly atmosphere and people rub along very well.

The food is good, quite varied and served promptly, the salads were my favourite. Beware the breakfast offerings, they're HUGE. I ordered a bowl of muesli with fruit, yoghurt and honey and while it was delicious it forced me to miss lunch. Disaster!

Yoga classes were starting the week after I left, if you like Yoga this is a good thing, if you don't it's unlikely to impact on you in any way.

I loved Simrose, I'm going back near the end of the season and have already booked by hut for them. This time though I might bypass taking the computer with a list of things I'm going to get done for work, I never even plugged it in.

Just returned from a wonderful 12 day stay at Simrose.
It's a fantastic place to stay. The staff are incredible. Binesh who runs Simrose cannot do enough to help. Special mention goes to one of the staff (whose name i've forgotten) who seemed to be head waiter. Incredibly attentive and friendly the best we came across in the whole of Agonda!
The food is very good, we ate there several times and Simrose has one of the most extensive menus, some places offer very limited choice.
The seating area with the benches are amazing places to sit and relax during the day or of an evening. In fact we genuinely thought that Simrose was easily the nicest place sit and eat or just have a drink. It has a really nice atmosphere and we enjoyed watching many sunsets!
Have to add that Simrose is also in a great central location. The beach is 3km in length. We walked down to each end a few times ourselves but most bars and restaurants are in the middle. We thought if you were staying at one end of the beach it was a good walk in the intense heat to get to other places everyday.

As a place to stay Agonda is great, it is very quiet, but that's exactly what we wanted.
It has some little shops and stalls, plenty of places to eat. Most were very good. Only really went to one place that was really poor.
I heartily recommend The Tandoor and Looping Buddha, which only just opened for it's first season while we were there and we had the BEST steak from them.
Another new place we really liked was Rama. Great food and great staff.

All in all we had a wonderful time made all the better by the great surroundings of Simrose and the attentive and friendly staff, when we return to Agonda we will stay again.

Leaving Goa may well be one of the hardest things, so after an idyllic 5 day break in Agonda,I am back to the grind of the city, considerably tanned and already planning the next trip. As a regular to Agonda Beach, I have to say that Binesh (the resort manager) and his boys do an excellent job of running this place. This was my first time at Simrose and there are things I loved about it and things the resort could work on. The resort has it's rustic charms and the best restaurant seating area amongst any other resort on the beach. The rooms and the toilets are quite big and there is an outside seating area if you want to relax. There was no running hot water in the taps, but one doesn't really need it either. Since one spends his time sitting at the restaurant area or at the beach, the individual booths are just fantastic to laze around and chill all day long.
Since it was the beginning of the season, the resort was a bit short on the manpower and the food always takes a lot of time to come, so order well in advance. I personally loved the chicken curry and mushroom curry, but the food needs to be much better to justify the rates. the cocktails are average and the beer is a bit overpriced as compared to the other resorts on the beach stretch.
One can do a variety of things at Agonda, More unconventionally, take a trek on the hillocks towards the left of the resort and you will come across some interesting flora and fauna of Goa and a huge unfinished hotel which definitely looks spooky.

Overall it was a great vacation and I cannot wait to be back

Room Tip: Unless you are a big fan of the ocean view, any room is good enough, though insist on the ones on th...
