We went to Chanttai to rest for a couple of days and we did. The beach is marvelous, clean, serene and Chanttai just helps you to appreciate it. Although the place was already in an end of season state, still it was very beautiful. The staff is very nice, people that were staying there were equally peacefull and even made a friend with whom i went to see the fluorescent lights of the sea at night . Overall they were the more relaxing days i had in India.

Chattai Agonda is everything you could want in beach hut accommodations. The huts and bathrooms are very clean, and the airy sit-outs are ideal for enjoying a drink, breakfast or even just reading a book with your feet in the sand. I loved the huge bed and layout of the hut and sit-out - they are basic but simply and beautifully decorated. The open lattice window above the shower was a nice touch, with a stunning view of the overhead coconut palms and bright blue sky. On the north end of the beach, Chattai Agonda is removed from the hubub of touristy beach culture. It's the perfect place to relax if you like a quiet, impressively clean beach - even the other guests here were friendly but peaceful and calm. The staff at Chattai Agonda are constantly making small extra efforts to improve the quality of your stay, and are very open to requests and suggestions. They'll help to arrange anything else you need in the area (scooter rental, directions, etc.), and couldn't be friendlier. I'd feel very comfortable staying here again on my next trip to Agonda.

Room Tip: Ask for a hut in front, nearest to the beach - the huts behind would have a view of the road instead...

Hi i am shashank and i am a banglorean.

I was initially a little skeptical about taking a beach hut due to my concrete jungle experience in my daily life and preferred to stay in a nice beach resort, but then due to the scorching sun and the "on season"rates going on i was a little hesitant about booking the resort as the rates of the resort was a little too overwhelming and the rising heat which i thought would add on few more degrees to the preexist-ant heat due to structures made of concrete,so i decided to take a beach hut which seemed airy but still covered for private intricacies, and believe me chettai agonda was just the right place which fulfilled both of my criteria very well which i got by a mere good luck(serendipity) as they have bookings all the time.

Secondly as u step outside your hut and take a few steps(literally five steps lol)you enter the restaurant which serves you magnificent indian as well as western style cuisines along with the attached bar from were the view of the sea breath taking(and i can write about admiring the view all day) i was awe struck initially for the first time, and the beach itself (unlike other beaches of goa) is sparingly crowded and serene, and chettai at agonda has the perfect beach view restaurant which has huge sofas(which can accommodate 4 people sitting easily)facing the sea and lets you be in trance.

I have to mention about the people there, namely Mr.Caitano de costa(who manages the place) and his team(namely mangesh) who are always ready to cater to your needs all the time and wont make you feel out of place(really hats off for them),the food served at the restaurant was indeed a delight with rice and coastal konkan style cuisine which dominated my order list along with a little bit of punjabi and western which were equally good.
As a whole ,my expierience in chettai agonda was in fact breath taking, mainly due to the place itself and the people around it.

There are a lot of places to visit around agonda namely palolem, patnem, capu de rama fort, etc etc which i wont elaborate as i hope "you expirience it" rather than me telling it.

cheers

Room Tip: Take those huts which has a private top deck from where you can view the sea and relax

We had a very enjoyable stay here for a week in Feb/March 2012. Very friendly service. Fresh catch-of/the/day fish on the menu everyday. Great if you're looking for something quiet and relaxed on a very beautiful beach. Clean rooms with nice bathrooms- and great view of coconut palms from the shower! At the quieter end of the beach. Good spot to stay in Agonda.

We found Chatai by wondering up the beach so had no prior expectations but found the huts to be lovely.
Huts are spacious, airy & clean; good bathroom area, loads of space & clean, huge bed & lovely fresh sheets (&pillows). Our little terrace seating area was lovely for breezy cooling relaxation with beer. There is loads of space between huts & each had their own little fenced front garden area! With each being bamboo, canvas & the white curtains it has a lovely feel.
Staff are lovely, looked after us well; restaurant & service were great (we were eating veggie) looking out over the white sands & sea.
In all, Chatai compared well with our other hut stays, chilled out & quiet location on beautiful Agonda & we are happy to recommend for hut loving travellers.

It´s been the second time that I've been to chattai and I enjoyed as much as first time. The huts are basic, but for me that's the idea: a hut by the beach in a forest of coconut palms.

The huts are lined with straw mats with a huge bed and have big porches (some of them also have a "first level" terrace-like look out) where you can sit during the day in the shade or at night having a cold beer.

The restaurant is good and has a fantastic view and laid back feel with it´s white (well, more or less...) curtains and sofas. When the Tandoori oven is lightend, they make fantastic Chicken and Fish Tandoori (we had Red Snapper, which was very good, though obviously much more expensive than anything else on the menu). They offer to clean the huts and change the sheets and towels whenever needed and the whole feeling you get is very familiar.

They have free wi-fi, though when we were there, most of the time it didn´t work - in the end it got fixed though.

The only downpoint was that many items on the menu are not available, which can be annoying and that the huts are actually more expensive than other ones that are not as basic.

However, the whole feeling in the little "village" is different to other huts, as there are not so many huts in Chattai (only 9 in total) and they are nowehere near as close together, as elsewhere, so you have more privacy. The cold water is more than sufficient for washing and even from the bathroom you have a view to the coconut palms outside.

The staff is nice and has a familiar touch, so you feel welcome and appreciated. If I ever come back to agona, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get the first hut (A9) with direct sea views.

The beautiful pictures on the website are nothing like the reality of Chattai accomodation. We arrived in April which was close to the end of the season and by then place had run ragged. The gorgeous white muslin curtains you see in the photos are filthy. The beds are so hard that the next day I had to take pain killers. Two days was enough for us: but do note that it was dirt cheap. However, that aside so is everything else at Agonda and you can do a lot better. We moved to Paradise Huts then finally to Shanti Huts which were the most comfortable, the coolest and the best. The only good thing about Chattai was their amazing naan bread cooked inside that hot tandoori oven. To die for!
