We loved this place and wish we had found it sooner on our vacation. The wood fired pizzas use sourdough and are absolutely delicious.
We really enjoyed working our way through the various pizzas, wish we had more time to get through them all!
The cocktails are also great with something for everyone, my fav was the homemade raspberry gin, so good! Nothing is too much trouble for the waiters and we were always made to feel welcome, if your in the area you must check it out, we havent found anywhere in south goa that cones close,

My partner and I are suckers for a good pizza and cocktail, and so when we read reviews for Kopi Desa, it became the spot for our first dinner in agonda. However, both the cocktails and pizza were extremely disappointing. While they have a bar that appears promising - there are a few housemade infusions prominently displayed at the bar and the specials menu - they use the lowest grade of spirits one can buy in the market. They use McDowell's white rum in the mojitos, and even though bacardi carta Blanca in india is a harsh spirit with only a pale resemblance to the version sold in other markets, it is notches better than mcdowell's. So too with the pouring brand of spirit used in the margarita - desmondji, a foul, nutty agave spirit that is not even tequila. Which brings me to the gin - India and goa have not been immune to the worldwide gin revolution, and most bars I visited in goa now make cocktails with one of the three Indian gins distilled in goa. Not Kopi Desa though, where you pay about what you would pay for a cocktail made with a nice gin, but get a cocktail with a harsh white spirit that passes for gin (with perhaps an infusion). It seems to me that anyone who says that they have good cocktails likely knows and cares little about what's in their glass.

Moving on to the pizza, we expected the dough and the crust to be the star of the show as the outlet takes some pains to assure you that you are eating a sourdough pizza. What we got instead was a pizza with a thin, uniformly pale crust with no rise, more befitting a flat bread than a pizza. This was neither a neopolitan nor a Roman style pizza. The sauce was undwerwhelming, almost saltless, and heavily seasoned with cheap, supermarket oregano. So much for excellent pizzas!

Our other main was a pulled pork burger. The pork was succulent, juicy and easily the highlight of our meal. But alas, the bread, which formed more of the burger than it should have, was of the industrial variety. The apple slaw was overly sweet, and the 'smoky' bbq sauce had not a hint of smokiness, and I'm almost certain was store bought.

Finally, a word about the service: for the most part, we say one server wait on an almost full restaurant. It was hard to get his attention, harder still to get the check, and harder yet to get him to settle the bill. Finally, I went to the manager (or acting manager that night), and told him about our experience. He apologized, took off the service charge, and offered to bring us something in lieu of the disappointing pizza. We got the lamb shoulder with creamed leeks and sweet potato galette in a rosemary jus. The lamb shoulder was moist, juicy with some pleasing broiled bits that broke the textural monotony. But the jus was extremely salty, as if the chef bought supermarket stock or put to much salt in the stock, such that the saltiness was amped when the stock was reduced to a jus.

Long story short, I would stay away from Kopi Desa. It was easily the worst meal of our 2 week stay in Goa.

ahhh, my favourite kind of review...your typical opinionated self-entitled Tripadvisor member with a low self estime, that's uses the anonymous internet to spout uneducated views that help boost your low ego. Therefore let me educate you a little sir.... We could use Bacardi in our mojitos, and in blind tests there is no difference from the one made in Puerto Rico or the one made in India...but using Bacardi would simply increase the price of the Mojito such that it would be unaffordable to most of our customers, add mint, lime sugar and your simply masking the flavour. The same can be said for the lovely triple distilled Goan produced Blue Crystal gin that we use to infuse and barrel age our cocktails, your sound like the type of guy that would order a beautiful McCallan's whiskey, or Grey goose vodka then add coke or red bull because you think its cool...but is simply destroying the beautiful flavours...To use an expensive gin would again increase the price to make it inhibitive to the majority of our customers and would be criminal to cover the original flavours...
Let's tell you about Tequila, which can only be called Tequila if it's produced in Mexico...and guess what...it's made from the the aguve plant ( which you seem to dislike! ) and do you know where the only other place outside of South America where's it's made into tequila? Yep, that's right...here in beautiful Goa, where it's been produced for the last 19yrs and can now be found in many of top bars around the world, as it's a fantastic 'Tequila'
The Pomodoro pizza ( one of our best vegan sellers ) is a traditional simple tomato sauce, and the sourdough used is as it should be..your ignorance would lend me to think you would just love a mass produced fake cheese covered aberration that most call a pizza these days...I can recommend and number of places you can try these. As for the amount of prep that goes into all of our dishes, the pulled pork burger is certainly not using store bought bbq sauce...again showing what little you know about food! The lamb shoulder starts is day with a 4hr roasting in the pizza oven...followed by 6hrs over night on a low simmer in a stock ( which is then reduced further to give us the think, flavoursome jus ) perhaps don't cover your food in salt before trying it would be my recommendation. I was told about your rude disrespectable behaviour by my staff, and anyone than treats waiters in such a way is certainly not welcome back in our restaurant where we are immensely proud of the hard work and dedication our team takes on a daily basis, and to treat anyone as you have speaks volumes about the kind of individual you are, which is why you will never be served here again!
