The Best Fortified Church in Romania. It is a must if you are arround. remarkable and unique, the church inside the fortification is not the best , but the fortification itself. Very well keeped, very good local guide. YOu can find cheap accomodation arround the area.

Prejmer is close to Bran Castle so we visited both on the same day. Prejmer was a much better investment of our time. You are allowed to roam the huge well preserved fortress that still has the individual rooms or apartments for the townspeople it protected. Each family had a room to move into when the town was under siege. Some are open and you can go inside. This was an amazing place. We would recommend seeing this over any of the surrounding fortified churches.

We were fortunate to be taken to the fortified church at Prejmer at 6pm on a private tour after the site closed to visitors in the evening. In the fading light and freezing cold it was so atmospheric I could have cried. Our guide was wonderful taking us all around the site and telling us some of the tragic stories from more violent times. We went into the church itself and the temperature dropped even more. It really was eerie. I feel very privileged to have been one of the few Western visitors to this UNESCO world heritage site for a private viewing. It is a must see if you are in the area.

The Fortified Church of Prejmer is situated a few km from Brasov and worth to pay a visit if you're in the city for its great history (is one of the oldest churches in Transylvania and one of the biggest fortified churches in Europe). The church is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and it's more impressive than more other buildings that are more promovated in Romania.

Only one thing is missing to Prejmer to be as famous as Bran Castle, A VAMPIRE!. Otherwise is very beautiful and interesting but you need only some intelectual and cultural curiosity to enjoy it. If you also read books but not only watch movies, then you will love it. Don't miss it if you are around. It doesn't need to much time and it is easy to arrive from Brasov. Compare with Bran Castle and you could have a "surprise".
