If you want to experience and see the real Transylvania, you have to take a side trip to see the Biertan Fortified Church. An imposing sight overlooking the village, the Biertan Fortified Church is a historic marvel with Gothic architecture and a beautiful interior. You can feel the history when you tour the inside of the church. Don't forget to see the ante chamber to the left of the alter area where stories of villagers having been tried during the "Inquisition" were convened. Check out the door lock, what a complicated affair. You can't miss seeing this hidden gem!
