“A must for anyone interested in theater”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

This is an amazing place. The acoustics are fantastic and this is the oldest theater in the world that is still in use. And, even in July there weren't a lot of tourists there.

“A wonderful amphitheatre”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

almost complete amphitheatre , where a central stage whisper can be heard at the top of the terraces with alarming clarity , sit a whilst and watch tourists perform everything from Opera to shakespeare as they test the acoustics . a great local museum of what was a medical centre is adjacent to the main site . all excellent and a must for the greek historical tourist , walking is medium difficulty .

“Incredible experience, shame about the modern play”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

You can book tickets 3 weeks before the performance but tickets are usually available on the night even in peak season. We stayed in Nafplion (beautiful town) and booked bus tickets at the bus station in Nafplion in the morning. About a 40 minute bus journey. Again, it wasn't necessary to book in advance as plenty of seats. The theatre is incredible with amazing views. Wish we would have taken cushions to sit on! We would have preferred to see a tragedy or drama rather than a modern play but the crowd seemed to enjoy it. There is food and drink available on site although we ate in Nafplion beforehand. The bus leaves 20 minutes after the end of the performance. Wonderful experience.
