We stayed at Casa Richard for three nights in August 2012. As other reviewers have said in their comments, Richard has two casas in the same street, an older one with two rooms and a new colonial house. We stayed at latter.
The colonial house has been restored following really high standards. The result is that despite being an old building, the casa looks far more modern and comfortable that any other casas we saw in Cuba. This is thanks to Richard's continuous efforts to improve the house.
Our room was luminous, spacious and clean with high wooded ceilings, a private bathroom and air conditioning. It was accessed through a lovely patio at the back of the house. It was very quiet at all times, despite being very close to the town's main square.
Another high point is that the food served at this house was the best we had in Cuba, and it was great having breakfast and dinner outdoors at the patio.
The house has only one room at the moment, but by the end of the year it should be extended with a larger patio and two additional patio rooms. By then it will definitely be the best casa to stay in Remedios, if it's not already.
