“ridiculous breakfast!”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

this is a nice farmhouse, very clean, and rooms are spacious. The hotel pool is not really in the hotel property, as it is the owner's pool which is by her house, so you have to walk across a very large meadow to get to it. The breakfast is not included in the price of the (not inexpensive) room, and it consists in: NO JUICES, 2-3 different pound cakes (all tasting alike) , store-brand nesquik, one spoonful of jam. You get to order a hot beverage (one cup). The whole thing is ridiculous and it costs 10 euros. When asked why no juices the answer is: "WE LIKE TO MAKE OUR OWN fresh juice but we could not find any fresh fruit" (this is august in Italy).

I was recently in this farm very nice and clean and it is a very quiet place and the owner very kind I have read other book reviews on this farm that do not coincide with my opinion and do not therefore consider credible listen to me that I am an American tourist and I come new York and was a very pleasant experience

La Ca D’ Olga is a nice “agriturismo”, although the apartments need some refurbishment. Decay is evident from minor defects; broken water taps, wobbly chairs, missing cushions for the chairs, et cetera. The drawback at this place is the fact that the owner/manager is convinced that everybody understands and speaks Italian and she refuses to make any attempt to listen to simple English or German questions. This even resulted in unpleasant discussions and even some rude remarks in our direction. Leo, the dog, is a great attraction, but also unhygienic, as he is also around when people are eating outside. Apart from the preparation of breakfast, the owner/manager shows little concern for her guests. This became apparent when she and her personnel used the ample available chairs to watch TV and also when she activated the pool-cleaning robot during the morning, while some of us were swimming in the pool! At such a moment one wishes to know the proper words to ventilate ones opinion, as gestures did not help. In short: A nice location with medium quality facilities, but you will be unhappy when you don’t speak or understand Italian.

This is an attractive, well cared for Agritourismo in the country. It is therefore, assumed you have a car for which there is convenient parking. The rooms are clean, spacious, bright, and comfortable. The breakfast was abundant and delicious with even eggs prepared to order. The owner did not speak English but was patient and helpful. When we arrived, the facility was closed but a call to the number listed on the gate resulted in a quick response from Olga who lives close by. Because we were the only guests the day of our arrival, and it is in the country, it seemed a bit isolated but this wonderfully decorated facility may be one of the best Agritourismos in the beautiful Piedmont region.

what a pity!
that's absolutely the first thought if my mind has to come back to that place.
Location is suggesting that renewal of the building would let every guest discover something beautiful, something charming.
reception seems to be nice...or, better say, drives guest thought to something beautiful.
just few steps and walk thru the stairs, turn left, the yellow suite room...so deceiving!
the room is very spacy, big, but that's all...! just space.
bed is very uncomfortable, bathroom is big but no cure for the guests (just one small shower gel - no shampoo - and just one bath soap...!!!
the tv is a sort of "old fashioned" one and it is 3 or 4 meters far away from the bed...better to have a pair of binoculars to watch it! (and if you are on the right side of the bed, bathroom wall, unfortunately, prevent the guest from watching the screen!!!!)
Other rooms have exactly the same problems (if not more) - the red suite has a smaller bed and a smaller bathroom...but the same problems.
there should also be available a wi-fi service...unfortunately the router is very weak and signal is just workng downstairs, close to the reception - and not in the rooms
the walls are probably thin...the whole structure is very noisy and in the morning it's very easy to hear the other guests walking thru corridors, going up or down the stairs, and even talking to other guests while having a coffee
breakfast (not included...and quite expensive for a B&B) should be rich...but try not to look at what happen to the food...sometimes there is a dog walking by the plates full of food...and i can just imagine how a dog could not try to lick everything that hang outside a plate or a table...
The only nice thing is the dog...so sweet!
The owner...well...probably too much tired...but really careless, overwhelming guests with absurd stories...and sometimes overcharging the correct rate to pay....
what a pity!

Do you know when they were used to name Italy "el Belpaese"? I guess they were referring to their ability to make a person feel at ease and feed him well enough to make him vanish all other concerns. In Piedmont this is the reality. Speaking about the "Olga Cà" it is a well refurbished old and big house - word of architect - with a display of some antique pieces combined with the new decoration.
Rooms are well furnished, wide and they look like small appartments. Cleanliness is very good, at least once a day they checked my room in order to change towels and sheets.
There is a big yard in front of the structure, rather a well-fed lawn and by crossing it, 200m through this green space, you find the pool.
Don't know if the owners have been always the same, but it seems that they are not matching the descriptions above mentioned for all i care. The little blond girl (nay, i should say woman as she is 35 but she looks very young), Ireny (seems like Irony!), super friendly, tried to please all the requests of my son, who is a pest, and welcomed us with a really great Aperitifo made with white wine and Bra's sausage, something that everyone in his life must try.
Breakfast with Crastota di nocchiole and well fresh fruits and jams and many other things have been always an optimum start for our daily trips around Langhy and Roerri.
For me is a recommended place if one is looking for green space, peace and above all a nice location for visiting Alba, La morra and the neighbourhood.
Ciao Ireny!!

So here we go...to discover Piedmont, Truffles & Barolo!

Driving down from Belgium, we received a phone call from the Ca d'Olga manager around mid-day asking about our expected arrival time.
Nice huh? Not really. Our ETA was 7:30 pm but she started to pretend that we committed to arrive at 5 pm and that she might not be there when we arrive, that we might have to wait outside etc. Wow, what a start....
So we arrived at 7:30 and the welcome was very cold indeed. Exhausted we took our keys and we discovered a very sober large room yet quite cozy.
We traveled with friends and their two kids (2 & 11) who took a furnished apartment.
The cleanliness of the room and apartment was average-low and the toilet seat in the apartment was missing.
The breakfast items were abundant (Cheese, Ham, eggs, dairy products, fruits...). I thought however that a more local note could have been brought with products from local producers instead of supermarket food. And it was amazing to drink orange powder juice, especially in Italy...Coffee and espressi were good.

We also had some disagreement when we left since the checkout time was 10 am… We asked to have it postponed a little bit, especially to put some order in the apartment and get the kids ready. It was not a busy week, we were the only ones staying there.
Then again we had to deal with refusal, threat to pay an extra night etc… “many people were expected that day and she could not afford that we leave the room later because of that, that she could not do an exception and so on and so forth…")
We finally left at 11:00 am, of course no one was waiting for their rooms…

I found the place quiet. The location is quite nice and central with La morra 5 minutes away, Alba and Barolo 15' minutes away by car.

In summary : the location is fine. The room-breakfast is ok-average but the people running the place are not welcoming, authoritarian, and with a real lack of customer service skills.
To me that’s a real showstopper.
