Description: The Bovio family, one of the oldest families of restaurateurs in Piedmont, already managers of the well-known Ristorante Belvedere of La Morra for more than 40years, has now moved to a new place, in a panoramic position among the vineyards of Barolo. Alessandra, together with her father Gian Bovio, continue the family tradition in the dining room.

Reviewed Bovio year ago on our first visit to La Morra. Now this year we went back to Bovio with high expectations.
The menu was the same, which means that they want to stick with what they know well - fare enough. We ordered the tasting menu (same as last year) and was it good. The quality of the food was very good and our expectations were filled on that part (the risotto is still among one of the best risottos I have ever had).
However, the service was not exactly what we were used to get there. Our reservation was lost and it took 10 minutes and several people to sort out where we could be seated (eventually we got very nice table). The wine bottle arrived after serving the first antipasto which is a strange order. But maybe the worst thing was that we had to wait for 25 minutes to get the bill.
So my conclusion is that the they have lost the fifth rating point by letting the service fall on average (or even below) level. The price level was also lifted a little bit from the previous year.

Wow! What a wonderful place!
We had a 10 days trip in Italy , starting in Chianti, a few days in Liguria ,couple of days in Piemonte ,and then two last days in Milano. we always try to plan our trips to include good hotels with great restaurants. This time , we must admit, the best meal on the trip was at Bovio Ristorante in La Morra. Our host at our hotel in Serralunga d`Alba told us that this was the place to have the best meal in the area. Thanks to him ,we certainly did. My husband had the tasting menu with wine pairing for lunch ,and our 11 year old and I had a three course menu.
The view, the lovely attentive service,The food,The wines, and not least.. the interesting information about the grapes and wine yards in the Barolo district.
This restaurant deserves a long and detailed review ,but if you are a lover of food and wine ...
I think you should go and experience it yourself.
We would all love to come back.

We happened upon this place for lunch one day and knew that we HAD to return for dinner before the end of our stay in Barolo. The view is a knock-out, so try to eat outdoors, although the indoor seating has big windows, too. The food here is a step above most of the other restaurants in the area - this is a restaurant, rather than a trattoria or osteria. The food for both of our meals was fabulous. We would definitely return to this restaurant!!

My husband and I recently dined at Bovio on a visit to Piedmont. The restaurant was recommended to us by our hosts at a local winery. Bovio hits the mark on all fronts; beautiful restaurant and VIEW, great food, amazing service.
The food was some of the best we have ever had and we are pretty tough customers- definitely do the tasting menu but come ready to eat! With nice weather ask to be seated outside the views are incredible. The service was incredibly detailed from start to finish. Not to mention the bottle of Vietti that we enjoyed was out of this world.
Please do not miss dining at this restaurant if you are traveling to the area!

We arrived for an early lunch and staff was very friendly and gave us a nice table with a great view. Food was great as well, especially the truffle dishes (and the chocolate dessert!!)

definately a restaurant to go to if you are in the area!
