“A little Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2008

Perched on the top of a hill overlooking Sirince, this small charming hotel provides a perfect respite from the heat and stress of visting Ephesus. Tastefully decorated rooms, some with breathtaking views, all with updated bathrooms, are elegant and comfortable. The rooms have whimsical touches, such as frescoed walls, evoking the sensation of being in a Roman villa. The living room/lounge has a number of "nooks"to allow privacy for different group of people. The marble swiming pool at the edge of property is cool and inviting after a long day of traveling and/or sight seeing.

The small gourmet restaurent serves excellent food, in par with the best we have had in Istanbul (reservation and advance order was required for dinner). The turkish breakfast was a feast including not only the ususal items such as cheese, honey, jam and eggs, but also interesting items such as sundried tomato paste and olives. After staying one night, we regreted that we havent allowed time to linger a bit longer at Nisanyan.

The staff is attentive and helpful. Our reservation was handled smoothly and efficiently. Overall well worth the drive up to the hotel!

We stayed at Ilyastepe cottages by Nisanyan, and found it to be simply amazing. If you are looking for a simple and serene place to find your soul, this is it. Quiet, well-designed, expertly decorated and all serviced by staff that is both competent and friendly.

The wood stove bath is fantastic. The breakfast is sublime. The nightengale song is the only sound you hear all night. A little slice of paradise in Sirince.

The time we spent in the village and in our cottage is one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The cottage was beautiful both architecturally and in terms of its authentic and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked most meals for ourselves. The breakfast basket was more than we could eat so we used the leftovers for lunch or dinner. The feeling of the whole place was so relaxing and full of natural beauty. I especially enjoyed the sparkling marble pool and garden area up the hill from our cottage. A once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget.

After seeing their web site, and reading some of the reviews here at tripadvisor, we decided to book one of the Nisanyan houses. It was perfect for us (2 adults, 2 small children). The village (and the drive up to it) is simply breath taking. It made us consider ignoring some of the great sites in the aegean area and simply staying put in the house. The staff was especially friendly and accomodating. When we left, we tried to pay for some extras, but they refused payment! The owners of the place are extremely friendly -- it's a shame we didn't get to know them better. They were out when we were around, and vice-versa. Oh well, maybe next time!

I highly recommend them!!!

After staying 3 nights in a typical tourist hotel in the historic but crowded Sultanahmet quarter of Istanbul, we were delighted to be transported to this lovely, rustic boutique hotel perched above the mountain village of Sirince close to the Ephesus ruins. We chose to stay in the Turkish Bath House after reading TripAdvisor reviews suggesting that the rooms in the main inn building were somewhat small. The accommodations in the Turkish Bath House were more than generous considering that there were only two of us (each of us enjoyed our own spacious bathroom), and despite their quaint and rustic character, our rooms were fully provided with all amenities needed for a comfortable (and even luxurious) stay. Dinner in the restaurant in the main inn was delicious (we particularly enjoyed the chicken clay pot stew), and the next morning we watched the sun rise over the village from the window seats on the upper floor of the house. Later we brewed coffee and feasted on our breakfast basket from the terrace outside our front door. The hotel manager, Melissa, provided extremely helpful tips for visiting the Ephesus ruins as well as other ruins in the area. From what we saw of the area immediately surrounding the Ephesus ruins, no other hotel options in this area can offer a comparable atmosphere or experience.

This is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed in. Beautiful cottages in the mountains with views of the valleys below. Lavender, olives, fig, and other trees.

We stayed in one of the houses as well as the Inn, and enjoyed our stay. Best part of the hotel is the village of Sirince--quaint, cute village near important sites such as Ephesus. Another part we enjoyed the most was the friendly & hospitable staff, and good sightseeing tips from the hotel owner, Mujde, were helpful. The house we stayed in was spacious & good view from the window. The bathroom in the House was also nice, although shower did not work too well,--not such a big issue., Hotel restaurant food was good, and the living room at the Inn was beautiful. There were some points, such as in the House, the breakfast basket for wrong number of people & bread not arriving on time even though we informed them the previous day about our departure time, so we skipped having bread as we had to depart for a tour of Ephesus. Also, in the main Inn, guests & staff were talking oudly in the living room late at night, which we could clearly hear from the bedroom & was noisy. Overall, enjoyable stay.

  • Liked — Location (Sirince), View, Hospitable staff.
  • Disliked — Noisy at night (could have been unusual). There was also a large party w/ heavy music in Sirince the night we stayed.
