Highly recommend this hotel as a staging ground for trips to Ephesus and the other nearby attractions. The proprietor is a U.S educated academic who has created a hotel/resort that is traditional and pampering but also catering to the expectations of evironmentally conscious western tourists with appreciation for the slow food movement. What's not to like right? Only warning - no a/c in most of the accommodation. We were in the tower house in late July when it was brutally hot. It cooled off enough in the evenings to be tolerable, but I'm not sure everyone would concur with that assessment. Kids loved the marble pool. If you go, consider splurging for a private dinner atop the tower and an evening in the hammam. Very cool experience.

This hotel was both charming and comfortable. great restaurant and exceptionally helpful staff. We stayed for just one night en route back from Greece and used it as a point to explore Ephesus which was pretty extraordinary itself.

I was travelling with my wife, two kids eight and seven, and my 80 year old mother. The terrain at the hotel was a bit tough for my Mother, but the staff went out of their way to help her. The outdoor pool is nice with a marble bottom that the kids loved.

The town of Sirince is worth exploring as well. I just wish we had more time. This is a special place in an intriguing part of the world Enjoy the beauty of it all. You'll be happy you did.

As we stepped out from the airport shuttle, the Nisanyan's manager warmly greeted us, and led us to their dining room overlooking Sirince, where she provided juice and fruit as she went over the hotel's offering. It was a nice, quiet way to begin our stay. We stayed in #1 in the main house. The room provides a panoramic view of the town, which I found very relaxing. The hotel's breakfast offers a large selection of authentic regional dishes, and be prepared to linger. The dinner menu didn't disappoint, as well. They do have a pool overlooking the valley, and in August the water temperature was about right. Overall, we found the Nisanyan a wonderful find.

This hotel is amazingly beautiful, as is its setting. Not only do you get wonderful food and extremely pleasant service from hotel staff, as well as meeting Mr. Nişanyan himself, but you also will find yourself in a place with wonderful views of Şirince and the surrounding countryside, extremely clear skies at night, and a generally secluded, relaxed atmosphere that makes me wish I could retire to this hotel. My room surprised me by having candles and oil lamps that I could use, a large bathroom, a nice view, and complementary incense! despite being one of the cheapest rooms available.
However, it's worth noting that staying here means staying in Turkey, so naturally you have to deal with low water pressure (the shower in my room, a guest room, was ridiculously weak), inadequate air conditioning (my room at least had a large fan in it), and cats jumping on your table during dinner to steal whatever they can get. At least the Internet works better here than in most of the country. If you can deal with any hotel in this country, you'll love this one.

O-MIGOD!! This place is brilliant, preety, interesting, different and authentic.
Aside from enjoying true regional archtiectural accommodation that had million dollar views of beautiful, lazy, quiet countryside and the village proper, it had all the major modern conveniences.
Some dont have air con, but those that do not, cool down in the evening - yes, a tad hot on some of pur nights, but a cool shower and a beautiful cotton sheet then suffices.
Treat yourself further and lounge by the icy pool set amongst fruit trees tripe with fruit for the picking, and bask on the side of the valley overlooking the entire gorgeous valley.
Of course, this could only eventuate after gorging on a breakfast feast prepared by the most amazingly talented chef Ferda. She not only prepared the most incredibly tasty-yet-simple local fare with all-organic ingredients grown within the village, but managed to impress mynTurkish partner with porcha (fetta-filled shortbread pastry that rivalled her mother's..)! Any meal will yield no just yummy but interesting localised meals.
But the service was the utmost jewel of the crown. All-rounder ashkun was genteel and hospitable and went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable, and catered to our every need. Ferda (the chef's quiet and unassuming brother Mustapha Ishmail, was also so sweet and helpful, and acted like a doring younger brother. The manager Nurhan was just lovely. She pre-empted our every need and was extremely generous with her time, knowledge but also service. Her English was great and she exhibited a fine balance between professionality and genuine, homely warmth.
If you are extremly unfit then get the hotel to collect you from down the bottom, but it really isnt that hard (says me as an overweight, unfit, middle-aged woman). I personally couldnt get tired going up the hill because I always took it too slowly taking photos of the picturesque surrounds, or observing the locals or architecture as I went.

When we first arrived at the hotel, we were daunted by the hill and the lack of air conditioning. But we were charmed by the historic houses, the Turkish Bath House and the Bay Window House our two families were assigned to. The first night was a little rough even with fans going on full blast. It was a particularly hot night. The second night was much better as it had cooled a little. We didn't mind the climbing up but if you are not in a good shape, you may want to pass on this one. The hills are "paved" with uneven stones so be sure to bring good stable shoes.
The food at the place is worth coming back for all by itself. The cook is self taught and her creations are fabulous. You have to order earlier in the day so she can prepare in advance. Her mezes were better than any we had in Istanbul and the lamb shank was to die for! We chose to have breakfast at the restaurant and we were thrilled with what we got. They brought out several homemade jams, preserves, honey, yogurt, several different kinds of olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh pear juice every morning. The Turkish omelets were fabulous and huge. Did I mention that all their breads are baked on site in a wood burning oven?
It may lack some modern conveniences but I wouldn't trade the experience of staying at Nisanyan for airconditioners or elevators!

Beautiful gardens, and you feel you are at a B&B rather than at a 'hotel', as each room and cottage is completely different, and furnished like your grandma's country cottage might be. The food is excellent - breakfast is a real treat (fresh home-made yogurt to die for), as is dinner. The nooks and crannies and the views and the flowers (lavender everywhere) are simply lovely too. Very convenient to do Ephesus - if you are in that area in June and July, try and catch the Izmir music festival, where major orchestras play in the ruins at Ephesus about once a week.

No major negatives - except that summer afternoons can get really hot and there is no air conditioning (though they did provide a pedestal fan), and it is not advisable for folks with physical limitations, as the steps are steep and there is a lot of climbing.
