“A comfortable friendly haven”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Visting Ephesus in November I was looking for a comfortable haven, not too expensive, but where I would be well looked sfter and would enjoy relaxing in. Gullu Konaklari exceeded my expectations. It is a beautiful quiet place, with warm log fires burning in the cool autumn evening and sheltered gardens in which to enjoy the sunshine. Sirence is a find - with some good inexpensive eateries which I preferred to dinner in the hotel which wasn't worth the quite high prices.

Sirince lives up to its name and is indeed every bit charming as all the reviews say. My husband and I live in NYC where true quiet is hard to come by, so we were so happy to stumble upon this little village and warm, beautiful hotel. We stayed in one of the two Rose Residence rooms and loved it. Clean, great ammenities, small fridge, very comfortable and cozy bed. Our room had no television which was a welcome change. The breakfast is beautiful and delicious. The staff is warm and welcoming. The property is beautifully landscaped. A few locals will tell you in a round about way that there are more "authentic" experiences, but we loved this place and if we find ourselves back in Turkey one day, we will surely be back. Our favorite place to eat in Sirince was the very charming Ocakbasi restaurant, up one of the quiet winding streets. The upstairs room will bring you back 100 years and the food is basic, yet delicious.

We spent 2 nights at this zen-like inn recently and it was absolute perfection. From the second we walked in thru the windy street to this Inn we knew immediately that it would be perfect. The gardens are amazing with fruit and olive trees everywhere, little places to lounge around for solitude, exquizite views of the mountinas and old village,,,I could go on and on. Our room was roomy and clean. The bed very comfortable and we had a darling french door patio to ourselves. The restaurant service is spectacular and we really could have spent many more days there enjoying.

Room Tip: I can only speak about our room.....we shared a "unit" with friends...more like a small st...

We spent two nights here on a visit to Ephesus. The staff is lovely, the food good and we loved the view form the terrace. The linens and bath products in the bathroom were the best. We left refreshed and relaxed.

Room Tip: We had the front room upstairs and loved the view.

This small hotel is a surprise hidden in a little village up a windy mountain road. The grounds and layout are imaginative and lovely. We enjoyed shopping in the local stalls just outside the entrance. Not top quality, but good souvenir shopping without the hectic feeling found elsewhere. Our best memories will be eating outdoors with a view of the surrounding hills. One night we decided to stay at the hotel for dinner at 7:50 pm and they sat us 10 minutes later even though we never made reservations and no one else was having dinner there that night. Somehow they still offered us a full menu and a wonderful dinner with no notification. We were impressed and the experience was wonderful. Our room was not 5 star level, but certainly comfortable and fitting a nice B&B.

We stayed two nights at Gullu Konaklari and felt very pampered in this lovely spot. We had an upgraded room, which was spacious and well appointed. The buildings may be historic, but the furnishings are all very new and the rooms include luxury touches like bathrobes. The grounds are lovely. We arrived very late (around midnight) but the staff was ready and made us welcome with a refreshing elderberry drink. The woman on duty during more normal hours spoke excellent English and gave us suggestions that included pointing us to a very good, very local (and cheap!) restaurant. Our teenagers stayed in the three-bedroom house that has a living area, kitchen and extra bathroom. It would be fabulous for a group traveling together/wedding etc. Altogether a delightful stay. We enjoyed Sirince very much (sirince is "cute" in Turkish)
and were glad we located there for our Ephesus visit.
