On our second visit to Hattusha, I was a bit hesitant of any hotel, as our experiences with other places was not the greatest. However, the Hotel Baskent was terrific! Very little English spoken throughout, but we managed to communicate effectively nonetheless. We were greeted warmly and shown to our room. From what I could tell, all the rooms basically the same. Double bed and a single, two comfortable chairs, small table as well as good surface on which to work. Wifi was fine; no problems. Nice bathroom. Everything was scrupulously clean; the sheets even smelled good! The heat was turned off (after all, it is May...) and we were cold, but were given a large electric heater that worked very well. The only other issue we had was a lack of hot water. Upon letting the water run a really LONG time (which I HATE doing, being from Arizona, where water is precious...) it finally got to a lukewarm stage; not the easiest for showers; brought back all those camping memories. The food was exceptional! We ate here both nights, and the food was plentiful and delicious. The first night we were given a wonderful chicken dish along with soup, salad, rice and vegetables. Night two was a ground beef dish served with macaroni -- really excellent! We will definitely return to Hotel Baskent, and recommend it highly to those considering a stay in Bogazkale.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed the same, so ask for one on a high floor FACING Hattusha!

I am reviewing the campsite Belonging to the hotel. Situated behind the hotel. Large paved road and gravel standing area for approximately 40 units when full. Most of them with electric hookup. Good views from site to Bogatzkale below and Hattusa site. Large newly built shower block which is clean. Very hot water and good water pressure. No toilet paper. Outside washing up and laundry washing bowls. In good order. No shop on site. 2 bakers and most things available in Bogatzkale 1 km away.

The hotel seems to be in the middle of building a new block, which is probably not before time. The rooms are basic. However we were awoken in the middle of the night by a foul and over powering stench emanating from the drains. We've travelled extensively all over the world and its the first time that and smell has been bad enough to wake us and make us gag. We blocked the drain and sink with damp towels which did help a little but e left as soon as we could in the morning and I absolutely would not recommend staying there. We had diner at the Hotel in the town, very near to the entrance gate, which was only slightly more extensive and we really regretted not staying there. We told the manager in the morning about the foul smelling coming from the bathroom and he could not care less, he didn't even apologise, he just stated at us as if to say 'sorry you're confusing me with someone who cares!' If you are driving yourself, as we were, the hotel is not the one nearest the site, despite appearances due to the road sign, the hotels in town are closer.
