“Good location but bad with some negative point”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

we stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is good and quite clean, the location close to the bogazkale museum make this a suitable accommodation to visit hattusas but there are some negative points: we asked for a double bed but we got a twin room ant the shower was really narrow and uncomfortable. furthermore, we had a bad experience on the tour of the hitti's capital organized by the staff of the hotel: we asked for an organized tour to visit Hattusas and the staff promptly suggested us their proposition for the day later; but the guy, who was said to be a tourist guide, was a regular taxi driver who brought us through the Hattusas capital without providing any information about what we were seeing (and if i said something it was incorrect...). very bad experience!

We recently visited Hattusa to see the ancient Hittite sites and stayed for 2 nights at the Hittite Houses.
We were very impressed with everything -
Deniz, the host, spoke excellent English and was very helpful. He immediately gave some tea and some useful information about the sites and surrounding area, and made us aware that it was a bank holiday the following day so the museums may be closed. Later, after we had visited the site, we talked further with Deniz who had seen a recent BBC documentary about the Hittites. He said he would find it and have a copy for us to watch the next day. True to his word, we and a few other tourists sat and enjoyed the documentary the following evening after our meal.
The rooms were very nice, big enough for 2 people with a wet room/toilet. Both rooms had comfortable twin beds.
We ate 1 lunch, 2 breakfasts and 2 evening meals. The lunch was excellent - buffet style but with some more unusual items that were very tasty. Our breakfasts were standard Turkish plates with eggs, olives / salad and bread. We chose our evening meals from the menu and were very impressed with the flavours of the dishes.
The chef (Jengis) was one of the stars of the aforementioned documentary and should be complimented for his tasty food.
We ate breakfast and lunches outside under the shade of the trees and our main meals in a very unique Turkish style dining room. The features were most interesting and it was all very pleasant.
The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking. It was only a kilometre away from the sites - which are brilliant.
If we got the chance to visit again - we would not hesitate to contact Deniz and go back to the Hittite Houses.

Room Tip: If available, as for one of the rooms in the towers.

Staying at Hittite Houses was one of our most pleasant experiences in Turkey. It is located in a very strategic position with Hattusa ruins only 1.5 kms away, and can be walked to without any trouble. There are only 3-4 hotels in this region and I have no hesitation in saying that this hotel along with it's sister franchise Hotel Asikoglu is the best of the lot. However do book a car pick-up from Bogazkale bus-stop with the hotel as dolmus services are erratic and taxi drivers usually quote 3 times the price the hotel can provide pick up for. The rooms are large, clean and well furnished with adequate heating facilities. The bathroom has 24 hours hot water facility. The hotel also has a garden terrace where guests can enjoy their food in sunlight. But any description of this hotel will be incomplete without a mention of our host Deniz. He is very knowledgeable, well-educated, soft-spoken and a very warm person. He manages the day to day affairs of the hotel very efficiently. He personally looks to ensure that his guests are comfortable and face no trouble. We were treated to some very delicious warm baklavas. He comes across as a person who is into this hospitality sector out of love and passion to entertain people! Also take the services of his friend Murat who is a very skilled and efficient guide and can rekindle the Hittite history like nobody else.
I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone out to have a Hattusa trip!
