This hotel is as close to the top of Nemrut Dag as you can get and the team is very helpful and did their best to make our stay pleasant.
Not surprisingly for this period of the year, we were the only guests so the service and all the rest are in a slow motion as the place is geared off for a summer crowd.
The rooms are basic but clean; weather and the rooms are quite cold so there are electrical heaters in the room and blankets.
Showers are ok but took about 10 minutes to warm up for 1 room while the other room only got to .
Dinner with wine and breakfast were both great, even tough we missed the butter and honey for the early meal. The internet is slow and the network is not easy to pick up but do not forget you are in the middle of ...no where. The staff made several fires in the restaurant hall which was nice but the chimney is too small and not suited to reflect heat as there is no cast iron.
Do expect a basic but clean bedroom and a great welcome and service from Sadin.

Stayed March 1, 2014, 2 rooms for our family with 2 teenagers.

What a great view. What great owners. The place is a lodge that is extremely well placed to see the big heads. They had hot water and dinner/breakfast were included. We'd recommend this place as the one to go to when going up to see the monolithic attractions.

Word to the Wise: Wear warm clothing when going up to see the heads. When entering the site, rent a blanket at the chalet at the bottom of the hill (9 kms up from the hotel) if you're going to see the sunrise/sunset.

Pros > (1) Of the three hotel between Karadut and Mount Nemrut, this is probably the best one; (2) great views of the valley and nice patio area to relax after an early morning trip to Mount Nemrut; (3) Close to Mount Nemrut: only about 9kms/25 minutes away by car, saving an early morning drive from Kahta; (4) surprisingly good internet, but only in reception area; (5) room price is half board, with breakfast and dinner included (there is nowhere else close to eat).

Cons > (1) Isolated: there is really nothing else nearby, even the little village of Karadut is 2-3kms away, so once you are there, you are kind of stuck; (2) Basic, stripped down accommodation and food has a "canned" feel to it; (3) some costs are hidden and not well defined (see my notes "Beware" below).

Beware > This place is really only geared for tour groups that visit Mount Nemrut, then stay for just one night. They are not set up for independent travelers without their own transportation. Where this is apparent is with the hidden costs: (1) they quote "free" airport pickup, but then charge 100TL to take you back to Adiyaman airport; (2) Their "tours" of Mount Nemrut are 74TL, do not include the entry ticket of 9TL, and only amount to driving you from the hotel to the parking lot, waiting for you there, then driving you back; (3) their long tour of the valley is 145TL, is just transportation, and they provide no information at all on the sites you visit.

My issues > (1) My 90TL/night room price ballooned to nearly 400TL/day with the additional cost of the "tours" and transport, not to mention drinks, etc. that are not included (but not mentioned on their web site); (2) When I arrived at the Adiyaman airport, there was no one there to pick me up, even though they had told me by e-mail they would be waiting. When I called, it took them another hour to come get me, for a total of two hours sitting at the airport in the heat. On the way to the hotel, they then made four stops for groceries, supplies etc. before finally getting there; (3) One day I did a tour with them to Urfa/Harran and was told I had the whole van to myself (since I had paid for it). This did not stop one of their staff coming along for free, as well as them picking up a few friends on the way back to the hotel. If I pay for it, then don't use it as a public taxi (sorry).

My tip > If you decide to stay here, and plan to stay in the area, then get your own transportation to avoid getting hit with a lot of extra expenses. Better yet, stay in Kahta, where you will have a slightly longer trip to Mount Nemrut, but have more options in terms of lodging, food and transportation.

The only positive: it's close to mount nemrut, so if you are staying overnight for the sunrise trek, this location cannot be beat. However, all the positives end here. The hotel is decrepit, there is no hot water, air conditioner or wifi (all of which were advertised and te proprietor insisted were present). Cleanliness left much to be desired, we found lots of flies and roaches in the room. The bed had seen better days 20 years ago. The phone in the room was not plugged in or working.
In all, we were wowed by the sunrise at nemrut, but could not have been happier to leave Euphrat.

My husband and I spent one night at Hotel Euphrat at the end of June to visit Mount Nemrut during our 3 week trip to Turkey. I must have spent close to 2 weeks consulting every travel book, travel forum and contacting travel agencies about how to visit Mount Nemrut. I hate package or group tours and wanted a private guide. After considering all options and weighing all the pros and cons, we decided to fly from Istanbul to Adiyaman and do both the sunset and sunrise tour of Nemrut Dagi. The next day we took the bus from Kahta to Kayseri in Cappadocia. Marijke Jonker, one of the Dutch owners of Hotel Euphrat arranged for us to be met by our private driver and guide at Adiyaman airport. His name is Sadin Karli and can be reached at sadusan_hotmail.com Sadin's English was very good and he went the extra mile to show us the local sights. When he took us to see Mount Nemrut at both sunset and sunrise we had the place all to ourselves at least an hour before the tour groups arrived. We felt very safe and privileged to have had him as our guide. Hotel Euphrat is not located in Kahta. Kahta is farther away from the entrance to the Nemrut National Park-at least an hour further away-so you have to get up much earlier for a sunrise tour. Hotel Euphrat is located in the hamlet of Karadut which is literally a 15 minute drive from the entrance gate to the park and perhaps another 10 minutes to the Nemrut parking lot. While other tour groups have to get up at 1 or 2 in the morning, we could sleep in till 4:14 a.m.!! Our guide was ready for us at 4:30 a.m. This was a HUGE plus for us as we need our sleep. I gave this hotel a very good rating only because of its extremely remote location in Eastern Turkey and because of its proximity to Nemrut and its pleasant owners. There are some inconveniences and were annoying, but I think you have to be mature and look at the overall big picture. When we were there at the end of June the hotel was virtually unoccupied-many tourists had cancelled their trips to Turkey due to the overblowing of the media attention on the student protests in Istanbul. We felt completely safe at all times-Istanbul included. We were given their best room, a corner room with a mountain view. Unfortunately the air conditioning did not work and the swimming pool had not yet been filled. They were in the process of filling it the day we left! So we were hot. However the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was modern, there was a hair dryer, we had lots of hot water, the water pressure in the shower was great and the shower did not flood. Everything was clean. Since you are in the middle of nowhere you have to eat at the hotel. The food did not disappoint. You can either eat indoors or outdoors on a huge patio with a beautiful panorama. Both breakfast and dinner were very good-with very fresh ingredients. Service was very friendly and pleasant. While the owners are Dutch, their English is not perfect, but not to worry-it is easy to make yourself understood. Take our advice and stay here-it really is the best choice. Just be realistic and don't expect the Hilton.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view.

Very near to the entrance of Nemrut national park, 30 mins ( car and walking mixed) to the top of mount Nemrut with sculps. Stuff is smiley and helpful. There are 2 Dutch funny grandmas occupied. You should see the Nemrut's sunrise and sunset and one of the nearest places for accommodation. It is better than the other pensions. I stayed 1 night, rooms were intermediate, meals were good for that altitude:) The only annoying thing was the noise of early leaving guests. It was 6 in the morning and suitcases wheels start to roll...

This hotel is as close to the top of Nemrut Dag as you can get and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were the only guests at the time so they gave us our pick of rooms. The rooms were basic but clean and they put space heaters in each to help warm them up. Shower leaked a bit, and took about 5 minutes to warm up, but there was enough hot water once it started. We took the half-board option and dinner and breakfast were both great, as they served a tasty guvec (stew) for dinner and a huge traditional Turkish breakfast of breads, cheeses, olives, jams, honey etc. The drive to the top of Nemrut was about 15 minutes and not difficult (another 15-20 minute hike from the parking lot required). We went up for both sunset and sunrise and the hotel staff made sure we were up in plenty of time to reach the peak for sunrise.

All in all a pleasant one night stay. Expect a basic, but acceptable room, and you shouldn't be disappointed.
