If you love the bush, and don't feel like sharing your holiday with neighbors then this is a perfect setting for your getaway. Muntiri is an off grid Eco cottage backing on to a native woodland, and surrounded by farmland. The only sound for miles is that of birdsong, and maybe an occasional cow. It is a birders paradise. You can hardly believe you are less than an hour from the city.
The accomodation is well appointed with lots of thoughtful touches. The living area is full of light, with open views across the paddocks. Be sure to bring your camera as local wildlife were daily visitors, including some rarities.
I would recommend Finnis store for lunch, Currency Creek winery for tea and Goolwa if you want a day out. All within easy reach. Though why you would want to leave Muntiri beats me. Highly recommend.
Muntiri Lodge Eco Retreat is beautiful, peacefully situated on a 200 acre conservation park and bordered by pastural farmland.
The house is perfectly designed, with a twin bed room at one end, a queen bed room at the other end, and a lovely open plan living space in between the two. The living space is so comfortable and a pleasing area to spend time. It comprises the kitchen/dining and lounge room areas, all thoughtfully decorated and furnished with all you need to make it a wonderful stay.
There are so many windows for letting light in, which makes daytime a joy, as there is so much natural light and you can look out over the beautiful farmland as you have your breakfast and lunch.
The house is made up of a rammed earth structure, which provides amazing insulation for the building. It keeps warmth in when it is cold and helps keep the temperature down in warm weather. We stayed in cooler weather and we lit the lovely wood fire at night, and within minutes the house was cosy warm and comfortable. The rammed earth not only looks great but it worked a treat in keeping us comfortable for the duration of our stay.
The conservation park was gorgeous to be surrounded by, with loads of walks to take and plenty of wildlife to enjoy too. Every evening we watched kangaroos feeding in the farmland across from us, which was lovely as well.
Muntiri is also only a short 8 minute drive from the lovely Clayton Bay and Milang is nearby too. We visited both and especially enjoyed Clayton Bay with its access to the lake. The Finiss General Store was definitely worth a visit too, with great food and relaxed environment.
In all, Muntiri is just a great place to stay when you want to get away from it all and relax. Had a wonderful time!
