Sure the Neuwert is a little further out but very walkable to the ski school etc, about a 20 minute stroll with the ski hire shop half way all very flat. The ski bus is from the hotel well in time for ski buses and ski school.Leave your equipment at the ski school it makes life easier.
The Neuwert is a very good standard and the food is also to a very high standard but Austrian tastes seem to phase some people. If you like meat, soup, puddings...great..a salad bar is also available which makes the fourth course (have as much as you like). If you are fussy or do not like food stay at home.
Rooms very clean and comfortable with fruit bowl, sauna very nice after a hard day on the slopes but if you want to stay out apre skiing you will miss the bus and miss out on this pleasant hotels extras.
I have been here 3 times now, the Alphof twice and the Mountain High once. I enjoyed them all but this place stands out for quality with value for money
I am going back this year for the first ever Christmas away and cannot wait, see you then and best wishes to Geiorge and the family

A traditional Austrian hotel. A family run hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. Food was good quality Austrian food.

If you want a party hotel you need to book somewhere else but for us it was perfect, relaxed, friendly. We were a group from different parts of the UK so we had a chance to have a few drinks after dinner and just talk and then go to bed and have a good night sleep without being disturb by noisy party goers.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony

This is a small, family-run hotel / guesthouse on the outskirts of Kirchdorf.
The rooms are clean and tidy (if VERY orange!) and the view over the mountains from the balcony is lovely. The facilities are adequate and there is a room to store your ski equipment in the basement. There were no tea/coffee making facilties in the rooms, but perhaps this isn't surprising from a hotel that charges you for a glass of tap water with your meal!
The best thing about the hotel has to be the food - hot and cold buffet-style breakfast and 3 course dinner with a choice of 2 dishes (showcasing local Austrian specialties) every evening. There is even a "cake buffet" from 4-5pm for anyone returning peckish from the slopes! However, they struggled to cater specific dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarians / Coeliacs).
It was a shame that the hotel doesn't have a pool - its only leisure facility in winter is a sauna. There is a "Wellbeing Centre" in Kirchdorf with saunas / steam rooms / hot tub / (heated) outdoor pool - well-worth a (naked!) visit.
It is worth noting that the hotel is quite a distance from the slopes / lifts and the ski bus only runs a few times a day - can be an issue if you're feeling cold and tired and just want to back!
Would recommend hotel for families with young children or older couples. Anyone looking for apres-ski really needs to go to nearby St Johann.

We stayed here in February 2011. We were a group of skiers. And I wouldn't stay there again.

The staff in the restaurant were very friendly. We quite enjoyed speaking with them each day. The breakfasts were fantastic - continental style with lots of fresh breads/croissants, meats, cheeses, cereals, juice, coffee, etc. The dinners were also included but we found them lacking. There were a lot of pork meals (one night it was pork or more pork - those were the 2 options.) They weren't very flavourful. They were edible, but we did wish we'd stayed in town for dinner a few nights. Just not our cup of tea.

The rooms were clean, but small. And there were simply a duvet for the bed and the fitted sheet, no top sheet or blanket (which I've found is fairly common in Europe.) The decor is very dated. Our toilet stopped up one night, and we were accused by the staff of flushing other items down the toilet. Not the case, it stopped up all on it's own and it wasn't fixed until the next day (meaning a trek to the basement to use the washroom in the middle of the night - from the 3rd floor.)

The walls are very thin and you can hear everything from above you, beside you, etc. We were a group of people on vacation and apparently we were too noisy. There was no loud music playing, nothing of the sort, it was simply our voices and laughter.

The hotel is not situated near any of the ski hills in the area. It's a decent bus ride from everything, however there is a ski bus that will pick you up free of charge and drop you at the ski school in town. You can pick up the regular ski buses from that location to get to the major hills.

There also isn't much to do in Kirchdorf. Which I suppose was a good thing, since we were locked out of the hotel one night (before midnight) after spending the evening in Kitz. We had to ring the bell to be let in and were yelled at for it.

This hotel is not suited for large groups such as we were. It would probably be better suited for families.

We have stayed here a couple of times. It's a very nice family run Hotel with good service. If you are in the area for skiing, Neuwirt is good for the price if you are staying for a week or more.

Room Tip: For large families, Neuwirt has 3 room apartments at a very good price.

First time at this hotel although we have stayed locally before. On arrival we asked to change one of the allocated rooms. Staff phoned the manager and he agreed immediately. The food was very good and plentiful, the service excellent. The short walk to the local slopes (10-15 mins) was no problem as you could leave your skis & boots there free of charge. The ski hire shop was 5 minutes walk away. There was a bus service to the slopes but we never bothered with it, Free afternoon tea and cake were welcome following the stroll back from the slopes. The hotel was quiet, the rooms a good standard and clean. Would recommend it and will stay there is we go back to the village.

Been to Kirchdorf in Tirol four times now but this was the first time to stay in Neuwirt from 22 - 29 Jan 2011. For a week devoted to skiing, the hotel fully met our expectations and we would have no hesitation to return or recommend to others. While staying there, it catered to couples and families with small children.

We took one of the junior suites on the third floor which included bedroom, lounge, bathroom with shower and seperate WC. The lounge led out onto a balcony looking up the valley. The hotel has had a complete makeover a few years ago. Rooms were clean and tidy, centrally heated, beds were very comfortable, ensuring good night's sleep.

We opted for the "half-board" option which included traditional Austrian breakfast buffet of cereals, cold cuts, cheese, eggs etc. Choice of two 3-course menus for dinner are selected at breakfast time and were wholesome with decent sized portions.

There is a village ski bus that picks skiers up around 09.00 and drops them a mile down the road on the main Ski Express bus routes and connects efficiently upon their return to drop you back at the Neuwirt in the evening.

If you are looking for nightlife, Kirchdorf itself is not the place to stay unless you are willing to pay a Euro 20 return taxi fare for the 15 minute ride into St Johann in Tirol where there is more apres ski activity for the younger age group.

Our only quibbles were that the junior suite did bot have a bath (but then we did not specify when booking) and the internet connection in the hotel lobby was broken the entire time we were there (but then you go on holiday to get away from work anyway).
