Owner description: Nomad is family owned dive center with accommodation we have been opened for business for 10 years. We offer 15 rooms in 3 villas with 2 shared bathrooms per villas. We have a heated pool which great for diving courses or for a dip. The meals area is recent and built of local stones. We also have a retail diving gear equipment section. The meals menus are done by our chef and served in a buffet manner the meals are always really nice. We offer a type of service very different from what you typically find in the UAE. We also offer free nitrox on availability and courses from discover scuba diving all the way to the pro's level as we are awarded as a 5 star idc facility and obtained a green award from PADI for our environmental efforts and choices. We own 2 speedboats with recent Yamaha four stroke engines. The boats are comfortable and fast!!!

Met the owner of this place (Chris) at the dive show and we booked up after a chat with him.

When we met him at Nomad he was very uninterested in his customers in all honesty

Matt, Shannon and Fizzy were fine to deal with but after the rebreather instructors turned up the atmosphere changed totally. Matt was learning a new skill and it felt as though that was all that mattered and any personal touch was gone

The accommodation is worse than a youth hostel and we paid money to upgrade to the new pool side villas which are nice

We decided not to spend 100AED each on evening dinner and opted to go out and try local places which were great

I can't fault the diving apart from an overcrowded boat at the weekend with 15 people on a 12 capacity boat

Overall the centre is needing a good tidy up and lick of paint and some more personal attention

There is also no atmosphere at all and music is never played which would make a nice atmosphere

Dear Gary,
Thank you for taking time to write your review, I have just only taken notice of your post.
I'm quite surprised to see that you were unsatisfied with our service, as it is rarely the case and plenty of guests have visited us and were very satisfied with their stay.

I'm very happy to hear, though, that the chalets were more appropriate to your needs. In respect to the food, we regularly get good reviews and, since your trip at Nomad, I would like you to be aware that we have now put together a package that includes diving, chalet accommodation and full board.

Although the basic package offers free wifi access, pool access, full board 2 dives a day and free nitrox, the accommodation is basic yet clean as the price is very competitive.

Also the accomodation is as advertised in pictures, brochures and websites...
We offer diving in a remote location with housing and are by no mean a hotel.
For the guests that wish more comfort the chalets are available.

I was also surprised to see that you felt space on the boat was an issue as I checked the logs. Throughout your stay, you had the boat and dive sites for yourself with the exception of Friday, where we had one boat with 12 divers which is our maximum capacity. The rest of the time the max capacity was not reached.

I arrived from France on the 24th and was supposed to take part in the CCR course myself but did'n't keep on as I got sick. I clearly remember having a chat with you after one of the dive trips.

It is a shame you were not part of the diners, as it usually also the moment I get to sit down with guests and get to know everybody better even if i this case i wasn't at my best.

I'm quite known for my friendliness and I'm always happy to enjoy a chat. Also, please, next time if you feel unsatisfied, you should have expressed your opinion to the management and we could have made amends.

We are in a very remote location where offering a minimum service can be very challenging. Items are scarce and yet we try our very best to offer a compromise of good quality/price service.

Our family is truly positively addict to Nomad Ocean Adventures.
We did a Discovery Scuba Diving (PADI DSD) session in 2012 then got our PADI Open Water certification with them. We are now regularly diving through several diving clubs and our No.1 choice is definitely and enthusiastically Nomad Ocean Adventures.

FIrst of all, the safety is the primary concern of all of their diving staff.
Chris and the staff are hosting us like friends but deal with us as genuine and serious PADI safety experts. Compared to other clubs we really feel in safe hands.
During the certification, the instructors (special mention is made to Jason, a top instructor) succeeded in helping us manage our inhibitions and in teaching us how to love scuba diving.
From the very first dive on, instructors and dive masters have been escorting us and helped building self-confidence. Let us name Aliona, Lisa, Fizzy and also Chris, Jason, Sofiane, Emilio, Clayton and so many other excellent instructors. We owe them a lot.

The Musandan peninsula / Oman Sea diving spots are really excellent. Departure is generally at 9-10am and return is at 3-4pm which enables the divers to return home in the UAE in the afternoon.
Our preferred diving spots so far are Octopus Island, Ras Marovi, Pearl Island, Ras Limah, Ras Hamra and Ras Sinoot.
Coral and fishes are of prime quality.
The equipment/diving gear for rent is always recent and of good quality. We never had any issue with their good condition (unlike some other centres in the region).

The diving centre offers nice accomodations: Rooms are offering space and good beds, in each villa there are 2 bathrooms for 5 rooms and we like the air-conditioned majlis very much (for buffet breakfast and dinner; lunch is offered on-board between diving sessions).
The food is excellent and the cook is providing an excellent quality. Chris' mother is also helping design a menu that is always home made, fresh and with fair variety.
The salt water swimming pool is available both for diving pool sessions ... and relaxing.

Access to the diving centre is easy and fast fo a 1-day return trip or a full week-end.
From Dubai Airport, it is a mere 1h20 drive up to the UAE-Oman border in Dibba.
Then it takes 5 minutes from the border to the diving centre located just 10 meters ahead from SHELL petrol station (and 150 meters before DIbba "Al Mina" port).

Our preferred way from Dubai is taking E611 (Emirates Road) to avoid E311 heavy traffic, then E88 to Al Dhaid, and immediately after Al Dhaid leave E88 at the first roundabout taking on to the left on E18 then E87 until Dibba (alternatively E88 through Al Dhaid until Masafi, then E87 until Dibba).
Arriving in Dibba, drive down to the roundabout with dolphins, take it to the left then drive straight (passing 2 roundabouts) until reaching the roundabout located just before the downtown border post (only for locals), turn right at the roundabout and drive through the street with all official buildings (belonging to Emirate of Sharjah). When arriving next to the sea side, there is a roundabout with a large mosque, turn left and drive along the sea until the UAE-Oman border post opened for tourists and visitors.

When booking with Nomad Ocean Adventures, they will take care of permits to pass the UAE Border into Oman. Just show your passports and the Diving Centre booking confirmation. No visa required (as of April 2013). Passports will not be stamped.

Indeed our review is quite detailed ... but first of all we wish to share our enthusiasm in recommending Nomad Ocean Adventure.

Note that some of our friends use the Nomad Ocean Adventure as a B&B and some others as a full-board base camp for diving and visiting the Musandam peninsula by road. It is up to you!

I stayed at Nomad last november and i was delighted. Chris and her mother are very nice hosts. We where 2 on the boat every day, and the spots were just for us: very different from egypt usual situation...
Musandan underwater is full of life and cris knows the good places very well (he discovered most of them).
Life is very quiet in Dibbah, perfect for cool rebreathing.
Good food and basic accommodation.
i strongly recommend this place.

Recently finished my IDC (Instructor Development Course) with Nomad Ocean Adventures in Dibba-Oman. The 12 days here have been some to remember, the staff are very professional and efficient and make you feel at home straight away with an amazing relaxed atmosphere. The food is world class and all home made , each day something different. Not only is clean and walking distance to the beach it has some incredible diving and knowledgeable staff to educate you on the environment , they really are ambassadors of the sea that care about the marine life !!
Could not recommend any other place in Musandam but here at Nomad !! If you looking for a relaxed environment with staff that cares and quality accommodation here is the place for you !! 5 star review any day !!

We had friends over from London and instead of making them spend the whole time in Dubai decided to do a short stint to Dibba. We didn't want to dive, just wanted a chilled out couple of days snorkelling! We turned up later then anticipated due to the horrifc Dubai-Sharjah traffic enroute only to be greeted by the ever so helpful, warm and welcoming Lisa, (who arranged the whole thing for us) and a patient chef who awaited our late arrival! The snorkelling was fab, lots of sea life, Lisa was the perfect host. We will be venturing back, this time to Dive! Highly recommend Nomad for anyone who wants to snorkel, dive or just fancies a break away from the city, you will be looked after well!
