“Number 1 in Camiguin!”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

I stayed in Casa Roca one weekend with other 2 friends.

We are working in Cebu City and we went to Camiguin just one weekend.

Casa Roca is fabulous, the room and the staff is really nice and kind! One of the best accommodation in Philippines! You really feel like home since the first minute.

The breakfast is the best one I ever ate in Philippines… All my friends are agree with me.

Also is a perfect place to see the sunset from the garden.

I will recommend to you Casa Roca for your stay in Camiguin, the island is really nice!
And is nicer If you can sleep in a place like Casa Roca!

Joel

P.S.: It’s not a causality for now is the number 1 in Camiguin for Tripadvisor.

Joel...YOU GUYS ROCK! Please pass our regards to the girls.
You arrived on the overnight boat from Cebu, checked in...traveled the island...enjoyed Casa Roca Inn and Camiguin Island to it's fullest...and that's what it is all about!
Thank you so much for the amazing review and we will continue to ensure it remains this way!
Safe travels and hope to see you again,

After a nightmarish transport situation beginning in Manila my friend Edison and I finally arrived in Camiguin only to find out that our original hotel had made a mistake and was not able to accommodate our booking. Overhearing the conversation Jim and Evelyn rescued us in every since of the word and were able to put us up in the Casa Roca Inn. Staying here was one of the best experiences i've encountered in the 10 years I've lived in the PHL. From it's unique architecture, breathtaking ocean view, hospitality, home cooking and the "help yourself" atmosphere it quickly made the difficulties of arriving on the island disappear. This place is absolutely awesome! Thanks again Jim and Evelyn for everything (my apologise for the late review) Prep the ref with about 75 SML 'cause we'll be there in April! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! This place is so different, someone will make a film show about it. I have spent the last 6 week looking at every thing from the food to the new Basil Fawlty in the tv show Fawlty Towers. Every day has been so enjoyable. But this is not the place to bring a rice cooker and children. Good food, clean cooking area, . Romantic, fun, Should i say more... I think not.. Just try the place......

Room Tip: the sea is the swimming pool

"PETER"!!!! Thank you so much for your wonderful review!
Of all our guests you had the most impact on Ev and I...your thoughts, kindness and generosity made it more than a "stay" but and "experience"!
Yes...I think Fawlty Towers is more appropriate in describing our little Inn sometimes...but the film show should be about the guests, for it's you who make the Inn. Ev and I just facilitate and we love it and you, our guests so much. Whether our guests are here for a cup of tea, enjoying a nice dinner on the terrace or staying for a few nights or a month, you all create a "film show" like no other!
It was so much fun and you are surely missed!
Peace,
Jim and Ev

Strategically situated in the heart of the island borne out of fire, a quaint, tropical home that soothes not only your weary senses, but also your appetite. A home, and an accommodation that embodies everything that Camiguin has to offer, and everything Camiguin is truly is.

A 5-star B&B that does not feel like a business-accommodation - but a home. a home away from home. Run and operated personally by Mr. Jimm Hann and Ms. Evelyn Lascuna, together with only a selected few crew, you won’t feel alienated. You’ll feel right at home, An invited family-guest rather than a boarder.

Mss. Evelyn’s home-made world-class dishes are amazing beyond words, and a soothing cap to adventure-weary souls every time you are welcomed back into a night’s restful evening and readily warm dinner. Her dishes are always a surprise, and contains adventurous travels she herself has encountered in her life, seen through her magnificent eyes. Each food she cooks, is a part of her self, and you get to share that with her. She shows you her world as she sees it. And that is why her dishes are always an adventure, and a wondrous surprise.

I miss her cooking. I miss the basil in her version of a Thai-cuisine that i loved. And i miss the egg omelet and bacon with rice Sir Jimm cooks every morning, with Iced Coffee, for the complementary breakfast. I miss the sea from our breakfast table.

And I miss the view from our window that shows the Avant-garde and naturalistic landscape that is the wide grounds of this property.

Casa Roca Inn, in a word, cannot be described in mere words. The place is more of an experience and a feel rather than a sight for sight-seeing. You have to be there in order to understand it’s full Beauty. The place is packed full of the owners’ personality. From the huge gates painted with Zebra stripes, to the way the house is built as if a massive tree-house / tree-fortress like structure has rooted itself out from the scenic landscape, and yet at the same time communes with it so solemnly - it’s a wide range of intermingling and mish-mashing emotions of splashing colors that are both bold and subdued…. And somehow still melds together harmoniously. The home itself is like an amazing art in the making. Like the home is evolving, finding its way into a discovery of itself in the process.

(And if you have not seen this place at night, and through candle lights… then you have not seen this place at all…)

Now, do not get this place mistaken for a 5-star, all-your-needs-going-to-be-met, hotel and grandiose, accommodation. You’ll be staying with a family, treated like their very own relative staying for the weekend. And exactly that, no less, no more - you shall be. You’re not going into a business hotel - they are welcoming you into their home, and treating you as one of their own. What they have, is all they can offer. A true home away from home.

So, leave your expectations of internet access, and some work done, while you are there. You won’t get to do any of them. YOU. ARE. ON. VACATION. and in freak’n Camiguin, no less - one of the few actual paradises in the world. You won’t have time to internet or work. And you won’t need to.

Once you set foot on Casa Roca Inn’s grounds, and once you smell that ocean breeze through the garden air, with the intermingling scents of warm sun baking the grass-blades dripping with dew from the morning mist, your senses will just relax - and - “Work - what?”, “Huh?”… there isn’t even time to recover your responsible thoughts - you. are. automatically. on. vacation.

I miss the sunrise from there.

I miss the sunsets.

I miss the food.

I miss the breeze.

The place.

And the welcoming - always encouraging - smiles.

And the people. They had always just been themselves, and that’s all they need to be.

Just when we thought we couldnt handle another chicken on a stick we came across this Gem while exploring on the motorbike. The menu was great and the food was nothing short of amazing. One of the best meals weve had in the Phils! And the owners were super friendly. Will probably go back again tonight. Cant reccommend enough.

If you find a place to rest and eat it is good but when you find a place that even the locals recommend that's the best. Great place to stay, eat or just drop in for a coffee, and Jim and Evelyn can not be more helpful!!!

This is a lovely place to stay on Camiguin. Rather special indeed, thanks to wonderful hosts Jim and Evelyn, and to their helpful staff. The architect's environmentally respectful good sense and the house's pleasing, airy layout are also a huge plus (no air-con and no need for it; if you're a bit warm in your room, the fan will see you right, and there are mosquito nets if you feel you need them - I didn't).

I say "house" because that's what Casa Roca is - and it's a very nice one. It's emphatically Jim and Evelyn's place (in a good way), which for me meant lots of hanging out with them (my wife was unable to travel with me on this trip, which I guess contributed to that) and plenty of interesting conversation with them and their friends, who would regularly pop in for a beer or five.

Travellers who want room service, cable TV, their own private bathrooms, air-con, minions to carry their luggage and a generic resort experience should probably stay elsewhere. But I loved this place, its simplicity and its superbly chilled and friendly atmosphere. By the way, Jim's terrific collection of music was unbeatable (at least for a guy of 45!), and the breakfasts really hit the spot - nothing more, yet certainly nothing less than you'll need. Just like Casa Roca, really. I'll be back.

Hey!!!! Sorry for the delay in response to your review but we've been pretty busy and only now taking a well deserved "breather"!
Your review is amazing and we can't thank you enough! We miss you here at the Inn and only hope you will return soon. So glad you loved the "Tunes" and we've been adding to the music collection in a huge way. Ev is still cooking up a storm and the beer just seems to be getting "colder" it that is possible.
Again, thanks for the amazing review and hope to see you soon.
