As avid users of trip advisor, we booked the mirage for our first stay on the sunshine coast. Based on some excellent reviews and their web site photos we thought we were in for a great stay. We have travelled extensively and stayed at some great resorts, however the mirage just did not impress one bit. Room 40 that we stayed in was very run down and tired, the self catering kitchen provided the bare basics, ie salt and pepper shakers - empty, etc etc, enough toilet paper and soap for a day or 2 (on a week long booking - buy your own after you run out!). Left us feeling that this place shouldnt be called a resort at all. The beds were very uncomfortable with thin basic sheets. My husband talked to the resort management about the quality of the room and they explained that most rooms are privately owned so its up to the owners what the room is like...which leaves guests with no guarantees - he was actually allowed to look at another room downstairs which was beautifully fitted out and felt like another resort...just the luck of the draw....though you pay just the same!
While we use trip advisor all the time for our resort decision making, thought it was only right someone should write to set the reviews straight about the mirage. While it was not a horrible place to stay, it certainly didnt warrant the good reviews it has received so far. We would not have stayed there if we new what the rooms were really like.

We stayed at the Mirage for 7 nights from the end of August. The service from husband and wife team Alan and Debra was fantastic and friendly. The 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and clean and felt very homely. Our kids had plenty of room to move around. The area was nice a quite and we had wonderful views of the park and the ocean.

We would definitely come back and recommend it to friends.

Keep up the good work.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights, with our daughter & 3 grandchildren (7,5,2 yrs) joining us for 4 nights, and our son in law for 2 nights. The apartment was spotless, with a large balcony with a sea and parkland view. The rooms were all spacious, with comfortable furniture, a full sized family bathroom for the children, plus a big ensuite off the main bedroom. We especially appreciated the door lock on the main bedroom, so we could have a sleep in if we wanted to escape the 6am child visitors!
The pool area and gardens were lovely and well maintained, the patrolled surf beach is less than 5 mins walk, a large park with lake and children's playground is opposite the hotel with no road in between.
Christine on res was so helpful when I booked, with info re layouts of rooms, views etc.
As we were outside school holidays it was very reasonably priced, but I would encourage anyone to check this out even if it is high season - it is such a pleasant place.

Great stay the other week at Mirage (booked through lastminute). Great friendly staff and super spacious comfortable apartments, clean and with all the mod-cons. Away from the hustle & bustle of crowds and traffic ... 200m from beach and just a short walk away to Maroochydore and Mooloolaba. Would definately recommend to others, especially as a getaway from this cold Melbourne weather!!

Loved the Mirage! The rooms were clean and spacious enough. We had a 3 bedroom apartment, there were 7 of us and there was plenty of space. The kids loved the pool area, infact we spent 4 out of the 6 days there! The staff were friendly and very helpful.
The only negative I would have to say is that the air-conditioner didn't work very well. We complained about it and the staff responded straight away.
Moolooabah was the place to go for nice restaurants and shopping, it was only a 4 min drive away.
My husband played golf most days and said there are fantastic courses around this area.
Overall loved The Mirage and would definitely go back there.
