This is the second time we have stayed here with 2 adults and 2 teenage children.
This time we had a 3rd story apartment which worked out fine.
Most of the ground floor apartments were being refurbished after the floods.
The pools were wonderful and for this reason is our favourite resort of our 3 week Queensland holiday.

Room Tip: Get your meals at the Alex surf club across the road.

My wife and I stayed at Breakfree Alexandra Beach in a 1 bedroom pool view apartment for 2 nights as part of a Queensland road trip.

The good thing about this place is it’s location to the Alexandra Headland surf club which is why you stay in Alexandra Headland.

Location alone unfortunately doesn’t save this hotel.

The first room we were shown to only had a double bed in it despite the resort saying the all rooms have queen beds. Being 6’3, a double bed isn’t a choice I would make.

The second room we took was poorly maintained. The shower door was broken, there was half completed painting with the painters tape still around the door. The safe in the room wasn’t working and the getting the bathroom light fixed took 2 calls to reception to get fixed.

The shower was in bath with an incredibly high step to get over.

The mattress on the queen size bed (this time) was just terrible and I think it need to be sent to mattress heaven.

There was constant humming from the electrical box and noise from water/sewage pipes every time the room above us used their facilities.

The other issue was that when the smokers lit up in the common area out the front of the room, the whole place stunk of cigarette smoke which was not pleasant at all.

Dear Hollc,

We value all comments from our trip advisor members and note as a senior contributor, with over 25 reviews, not all properties have hit the mark and we regret this was the case with your stay with us.

We note your comments regarding the maintenance issues and do apologise for any inconvenience caused during your stay. Due to the high standards required of our resort, issues such as these are very rare occurrences

Once again my apologies for your less than ideal stay with us.

We have just returned from a one week stay. Travelling with my wife and one year old for the first time I had done a fair bit of research prior to booking. Chief reason for booking the Breakfree was the pool areas. We were definitely not disappointed! The lagoon pool area is beautiful and there is plenty of space. It was a bit cool for swimming so we used the two heated pools and spas instead, our little one had an absolute ball. The room itself was adequate, this is not a luxury resort but it was comfortable and had everything that we needed. Only criticisms are - paying for wifi, also the smoke detector in the room is far too sensitive, we tried to fry eggs on morning one and set it off. The resort is across the road from Alexandra Beach which is just stunning. The Alex surf life saving club is right at your doorstep with a beach side kiosk for breakfast and coffee if you need it, then a lounge bar, upstairs restaurant and bar as well, great prices and great food as well. All in all highly recommend this resort for families or anyone who loves getting out and walking around or lazing by the pool, ground floor apartments are being renovated currently and have dire access to the pool which would be ideal for a couple.

Dear EuroHoneymoon2006,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and holiday shots.
We are glad the facilities and location did not disappoint and you enjoyed your week stay with us.

There has been a lot work completed on the beach front across the road and the area is very appealing.

Thank you again for your high recommendation and we look forward to you returning.

We got a very good deal for a four night stay and had a room with pool view. There was direct access from our balcony down steps to the pool - really great. The tropical lagoon pool was amazing - perhaps the best feature of the resort. Our room was excellent.
The resort was pretty good for a couple like us, but even better for families. The families that were there didn't intrude too much - it could have got very noisy, but parents were considerate and kids weren't too bad.
I would certainly go again.

Low rise resort right on the beach. 1 min drive to Mooloolabah (no reason to say that, just like writing Mooloolabah)!

The pools were a bit cool for winter but well maintained and ready for my children to freeze in!
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment. Nice feeling, quite clean with a large balcony looking over the pool to the beach.

No complaint with the rooms. The whole resort is locked down so the kids can wander around free of worry. The lower floor apartments were being renovated but that didn't really bother us.

Gym is small and pointless, better to go for a run along the beach.
CON- lower floor apartments at each end of the resort are very clse to the small, heated pools & spa. Can be noisy as my mother found out. We were mid way along and all was peaceful.

Would stay again.

Room Tip: Smaller pools at each end can be noisy so try to get a room toward the middle of the resort, at leas...

Dear Blackmark1 (Senior Reviewer)

We appreciate the effort in posting this review and see that this has been helpful to fellow travellers.

As you noted, Mooloolaba is a short drive, however also a very beautiful walk along the Coast line.

We note your comments regarding the Gym and rooms near the heated pools. There are many different areas of the resort and subject to availability, we are more than happy to assist and allocate regarding proximity to the pool.

Thank you again for taking the time to review and please be sure to look out for our current offers and specials next time travelling to the Sunshine Coast.

We recently stayed for 7 nights at the resort and while they were repairing it due to flooding earlier in the year, you didnt really hear the noise too much. We had great views to the beach and straight opposite surfclub. The pools were great and underused by others that were staying there. Often we were the only ones in the pools which were used a minimum of once a day. The lagoon pool down the waterslide are not heated so if you were brave (like us) it was very refreshing!. There is a bus stop right outside the resort and shops to both sides for all your little needs. While the rooms werent the most modern they were sufficient to our needs.

My husband & I recently stayed with our two daughters on a family vacation. We found the resort to be very clean & tidy, most certainly nothing short of what we were expecting. Friendly staff to help us with any enquiries we needed & a great recommendation of the local restaurants.
The pools look very beautiful at night & the best hit in the colder weather was the heated pool & spa of a night to relax in.
The rooms were a little dated, and we did have a problem on the last night with people staying in the room above us stomping & banging around until after midnight, but apart from the normal little things you always find when never in your own home, we absolutely loved staying here and are now hoping we can organise another visit in the near future with our extended family also.
Cheap $$$ for such a great spot!!!
