It was fantastic that we were able to get a room that we could step straight into the lagoon pool out of! Bit sad we weren't able to enjoy it of a night time without any kids around! Rooms are spacious. Great location, and the beach right over the road! We had a fantastic stay.

We have just returned from 5 nights at the breakfree Alexandra Headlands. We stayed in a 2bedroom pool view apparent.

The location of the property is fantastic as it is across the road from Alexandra Headlands beach and surf club and we could see the ocean from our balcony, a lovely way to start the day. There are buckets and spades you can borrow from reception to take tom the patrolled beach.

There are 5 pools that are all joined together including 2 heated pools and 2 heated spas and 1x150m long lagoon pool which joins them altogether. We could not keep our kids out of the pools it was the highlight of their trip including a night swim as the pools light up at night.

The apartment we stayed in was on level 3. On walking into the apartment I was a little shocked to see how small it was. We were fortunate to have lovely weather which meant we were outside most of the day. If it had rained I think we would have all been on top of each other quickly. The beds were very soft and had no spring left in them. The unit was not as clean as I would have liked, especially the bathrooms. I am glad I left it till I was leaving to look under the lounge.

We went to the sunshine coast to go to Australia Zoo and it was the highlight of our trip. It was only about 25 minutes drive and we spent to whole day there. Loved hand feeding the elephants. We also drove just over an hour up to gympie to do a lovely train ride though the Mary Valley.

If you have children pack their scooters as you can follow the path down to mooloabah. Their is also a scate park next to the surf club. We also found on our last day a wonderful park up 2 blocks near the ten pin bowling centre that overlooks a lake that is enclosed by a fence.

We ate at both the Alexandra headlands and mooloabah surf clubs and enjoyed the food at both venues. We did also eat at the restaurant attached to the resort and it was good too but just too much food.

The kids have been home one day and are already asking to go back. We will probably go back but will get a bigger appartment and check the beds before we unpack.

Room Tip: Up on the 3rd or 4th level looking out to the ocean. Ground floor rooms are very very close to the p...

Dear SydneyKmh

Thank you for taking the time to post this review following your recent stay with us at BreakFree Alexandra Beach Resort.

We are delighted you that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you particularly enjoyed Australia Zoo and Local Surf Clubs. Packing the kids scooters is a great tip as there are many nearby pathways, all with beautiful views along the way. For Trip Advisor members reading our comments, please ask for directions to the Duck Pond as the kids will love the open space.

I look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

My husband and I travelled with our 7 yr old daughter to Alexandra Breakfree. We loved the pools - they are amazing! We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was well catered, including kitchenette. Two bathrooms and two very separate bedrooms (one was upstairs). The family area was on the small side however we did not worry about this as we were not in our room much anyway. We had a view of the pools and the ocean from our balcony. The owners of the apartment had even provided a pool noodle and boogie board for our daughter to use at the pools and the beach.

The location is fantastic - across the road from the beach and walking distance to Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. The restaurants within walking distance were of a good standard, the surf club across the road was ok but a little over priced for the quality of food you are receiving. I highly recocommend Indigo Steak and Seafood Grill at the front of the resort. The meals were amazing, excellent reef and beef, seafood and kids meals - very fresh and very large meals of good quality.

Great for families! We will be back.

Dear aabarker

Thank you for taking the time for your review and we appreciate your comments and recommendations.

There are many great postings regarding our location and proximity to Mooloolaba and Maroochydore and we would have to agree. Indigo Steak and Seafood Grill has recently opened within the complex and is sure to be a great hit. Regarding the meal sizes, we would recommend not having lunch before you go to dinner!

If you are returning over the coming months, you may like to check availability on our bed and breakfast packages in the new Restaurant.

We came to Australia on our honeymoon and after visiting Brisbane decided to go to Sunshine Coast.
The choice of the hotel was based on its location and value.
The room was a bit dated but clean and had everything one may need. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
When we asked for a room with an ocean view we were given it immediately with just a slight extra payment.
There are relaxing spa pools and barbeque area as well as a good restaurant and a beach just across the road.
We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an ocean view.

Booked a 1 bedroom apartment with a pool view, disappointing start to the visit when we were given a room that already had guests staying in it which we discovered after letting ourselves in. Embarrassing and not great from a security angle. Check in staff found a room on the 4th floor for us, clean and average inside and perfectly acceptable for the price, unfortunately the balcony was tucked into a corner of the building, very dark, small and definitely not as nice as the other balconies we could see. The old noisy air con unit could do with an upgrade too but other than that the room was clean and comfortable.
The pool is amazing! Other than the room mix up at the start we did have an enjoyable holiday here and would stay again, excellent location, close to the beach and a great choice of nearby restaurant options to walk to.
We'd love to be able to book a swim up apartment and would pay more for it but were told that even when requested and confirmed it cannot be guaranteed and you won't know what apartment you get until check in.

We visited this resort march 2012. i requested a ground floor apartment and was dissapointed when i arrived and was told we were on the 3rd floor and that property owners were currently using the ground floor apartments. ( i dont care who is using them, but when i booked my request on the voucher for a ground floor apartment was accepted). i asked the lady at reception whether there was any possibility of changing whilst there, which she said we could, but their would be a fee, which i was very dissapointed in as my ground floor was accepted now to get to the ground floor i have to pay??? This was our first family holiday as 4 and booked and saved for it such a long time ago, i accepted, even though i have been reading the reviews for such a long time on here and i see reception have moved people before but i havent seen that they were charged. Eventually we moved, the unit was better designed, but the air con didnt work, we had it on 5 degress, but it was terrible, i found a fan in the second bedroom which we used and had the doors and windows open for air. I did inform staff of the air con not working.
The grounds, pool area is lovely. The resort is very family orientated which is fine, but i do think maybe a kids club or a few hours a day something for the kids to be involved in with the resort would be a good idea, to give the adults some time to the pool. In saying that i never found the other children a problem, it was more for me and my husband to relax and enjoy the lovley pools.
The resort is in a great location, plenty of parking and walking distance to a lot of eating places. I would come back.
More comfortable chairs, upgrade of tv and banana chairs would defiantly upgrade and make it more comfortable, which i read the resort is in the process of doing. Lots of mould in the windows and bathrooms, i assume that sort of climate must be hard to keep under control.
I would like to be back there, ground floor with children make the holiday more enjoyable

Dear babmadsa

Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay with us.

Availability of swim up units is often raised within this site and is the number one request of nearly all bookings. Please be assured swim up units are allocated subject to availability and there is no fee or charge to secure these rooms. The fee may have been to upgrade to this room type, or a cleaning fee to change rooms, if this comes available throughout your stay. Please accept our apologies if this was not explained. Unfortunately there are only eight units available and we would love to be able to accommodate all requests, however unfortunately this is not always possible. In addition and note to fellow trip adviser members, due to recent works, all swim up units are currently unavailable until August 2012 however ground floor units with pool access are still available and can be requested at time of booking.

We note your comments regarding the room standards and also agree the ‘kids club’ is a real option we would like to explore for the holiday periods.

In the meantime, I look forward to welcoming you and the family back again on your next visit to the Sunshine Coast.
