Sang's is a great all rounder - delicious fresh and tasty meals at good sizes, nice ambience and set up of the restaurant, and I would say mid range prices. We were also greeted with friendly service which is always nice at the end of the week (we went on a friday with a couple of friends). It is set on a corner opposite the beach in Alexandra Headlands, so if sitting outside on a beautiful night its a lovely place to be.
We have had take away before which was delicious, but it always nicer to eat it at the restaurant.
The chicken spring rolls were delicious and they adjusted the serve size to 4 instead of 3 which is great, so not forcing us to order 2 serves - they were crisp and not oily at all.
We ordered steamed dumplings from the specials menu which were delicious - a soy based sauce poured over the top, and the they weren't stodgy or heavy like some dumplings can be.
The Pad Thai with prawn was probably the most full flavoured pad thai I have had - and that's a good thing! First time I have seen Pad Thai with thin, rather than thick rice noodles but it was great - generous amount of prawns also.
Chicken basil and chilli stir fry - again, fresh, cooked perfectly and great flavour.
Then finally the beef massaman curry - was deliciously coconutty with a thick generous sauce.
Sangs is BYO, and so with a bottle shop close by, even though we didnt realise it was BYO, it was easy to pop to the shop and choose our own wine for the meal.
Would DEFINITELY go back, I want to try other things on the menu! Sangs also hold a few fundraiser nights where profits go towards feeding poor Vietnamese communities, so we have booked in for one of those next.
