Nice view of 2-km plus San Juanico Bridge, the strait it crosses, islets beneath and its SL-shape as it connects the islands of Samar and Leyte. Recommended for nostalgic walk...

It was my 2nd time to cross this famous Philippine bridge and San Juanico Bridge that connects Leyte and Samar provinces did not fail to bring a childish smile on my face.

This 2nd visit was the opportune time to finally have a souvenir pic with this S-shaped bridge that crossed the sea. I had a hundred flashes with the camera! hahahaha....

The bridge sways and moves and I am proud of those people who helped build this bridge. A great architectural history for the Philippines!

Although stopping at the middle of the bridge is a no-no, we couldn't help ourselves but park there and take snapshots of the surrounding areas of Leyte and Samar. There were also small islands beneath the bridge. The bridge was majestic that standing there just felt awesome. Of course, you have to watch out for the speeding buses, so better stay at the sidewalk. And don't overstay or else you will be reprimanded.

Even if I lived most of my adult life in Leyte, every opportunity to pass the San Juanico bridge is always a welcome experience. The reason is that each passage is an opportunity to view the picturesque San Juanico Bridge that is set against a panoramic view of the San Juanico Strait and the verdant mountains of Leyte island. Seeing this stunning view of San Juanico Bridge is like a secret ritual that I had to go through repeatedly each time I cross the bridge from the Samar side. The ritualistic act of seeing a stunning view unfolding starts as one's car crawls up the bridge to that point close to the top of the bridge. Since this view can be seen when one is already close to the crest of the bridge, it is just a fleeting moment and one never gets a total feel of the unfolding the beauty of view as it gets lost so quickly. Only a fast and expert ticking of the camera would allow one to capture a very picturesque and privileged view of the San Juanico Bridge from this vantage point. Since cars are not allowed parking on the bridge, start capturing the view on cam as the car climbs up the bridge for your souvenir picture of San Juanico Bridge....of course it would just be a selfie but if you chance upon a bridge inspector, join him in the walk across the bridge for that souvenir photo!

This beautiful bridge connects the island of Leyte and Samar in the central part of the Philippines and is set against the small strait that prominently figured when super typhoon Yolanda's (Haiyan) waters surged unto the nearby Tacloban City.
Centrally located, the bridge makes land travel in the Philippines from the North to South of the country a reality.

Tip, never take away your eyes off that beautiful view as it unfolds before your eyes when the car gets near the small islet to the right of the 2.16 km.bridge for when the car crawls up the bridge from the Samar island side it, the breathtaking view would be lost as the car gets close to the topmost part of the bridge. Happy viewing!!!!
