The San Juanico Bridge is really one of the most aesthetic and stylish of any bridge in Asia, or the world, for that matter. If you have the time, interest and a few pesos, hire a boat to take you from Tacloban up the Gulf to the bridge, under and return. The views of the bridge from water level are stunning!

Interesting difference between the Leyte "L" view and the Samar "S" view of the bridge. I wish they had better and bigger signage for this unusual (for the Phil) bridge.

This is the country's longest bridge - one side shaped like S (Samar) and the other L (Leyte though it cant be seen on level ground). For one living in this country for a lifetime, it feels good to see that something was made right. View is rich on both sides. Highly suggest to do a walk. (though only did half on S side). Interesting find..Somewhere along the way (coming from leyte, its on the left), look down to see religious figure perched on the hill. Be sure to keep right to get the S shaped (after crossing Welcome sign).

Stayed in Tacloban when I visited and crossed the bridge in a Tricycle and a van. Tricycle was more fun and you can stop off on the east side as it has a wee outcrop of land you can walk along and look up at the bridge. Would recommend walking across (take a bottle of water). Lovely views when crossing and the fact the bridge goes up and down makes it more interesting than a simple crossing.

simple but enjoyable.

I didn't expect much from this but I was astounded by its beauty. The view was outstanding. We went out of the car (even if it was prohibited) just to be able to get a picture. The waters were so blue and pristine.
