“Life With The Lions”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Stayed for 1 night. Very comfortable and clean with all amenities I'd expect. There's not much hotel/motel accommodation in the area and so we were happy with this. Also, not much in terms of eating out. In the end we settled for fish and chips and an early night.
The local area is stunning, however and somewhere we'd return to. The manager is a mine of information. If you have the stamina to listen then you could be in reception for hours. He really knows his stuff and is keen to tell you. There were a group of Chinese girls there when I arrived and he was well into his description of what to see and where to go. They hardly understood a word but smiled politely!! We needed another day, really.

Room Tip: all seemed the same

We stayed here in the Spa Suite for one night and found it to be as expected.
It was quite spacious with all the usual amenities. Tv, DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities, microwave oven, fridge etc.
It had a nice lounge area and separate bedroom.

The images and descriptions you have seen are unrealistic. It's not a pool - its barely big enough to house fish; and it's not a 'private terrace' its the pavement outside your room facing the parked cars.

The location is slap bang in the middle of a residential estate - the rooms are relatively spacious but barely decorated - left as bare brick everywhere - so looking a bit dated. The walls are paper thin and the sound of someone making a phone call from their "private terrace" was clearly audible through the front door. No dishwasher, no cooker, no washing machine and yet advertised as containing a kitchenette - it genuinely wasn't useful.

The owner's encyclopaedic knowledge of the area couldn't make up for the fact that the experience simply wasn't as advertised. I am at a loss to understand how this can be advertised as a 4 star motel.

For the money paid, I haven't been this disappointed in a hotel for some time - and this is one of 10 hotels we have used during our travels around australia in this holiday.

It is rare for me to feel strongly enough about a hotel to review it - but very definitely BUYER BEWARE.

Room Tip: All rooms face the carpark and there are no views.

We arrived at Jervis Bay after a long flight across the Pacific and some highway driving from SYD. As the others say, the welcome overflows with local knowledge. Andrew's map drawing skills and details provided a full introduction to a marvelous location. Our room was in good shape and we were sorry to not stay a full week.

Stayed over for one night. Nice and clean. Manager Andrew seams to have great local knowledge and he gave us some ideas on where to go. We stayed at Deluxe spa room. The spa was big enough. The hotel itself is close to coles so you never run out of things. any 5 mins away from the main city which was great.

Room Tip: Deluxe room good value

If you are looking for a luxury experience, you should look elsewhere. However, what Dolphin Shores in Vincentia has to offer is a host that is going to knock your socks off with an amazing intro to Jervis. I have never come across such a thorough and knowledgable welcome anywhere in the world as that given by Andrew on arrival.
The accommodation is the usual country-Australia style, except it is impeccably clean and well-kept. So, it's a motel style at hotel prices - a common malady for Australian hospitality.
Yet, Andrew makes a huge difference to the experience of staying at Dolphin Shores. Within minutes of arriving, I felt as if we knew the history of the place and had a plan on where to go and when. Passionate and entertaining, Andrew made the experience of staying at an otherwise quite ordinary place quite an event. Thank you - I cannot recommend Dolphin Shores highly enough. Definitely the most enjoyable stay in its category I have come across so far.
